ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Methanex is currently seeking an Asset Integrity Lead to join the team in Medicine Hat on a full-time basis.

In this role, you will be responsible for team leadership and development, providing strategic thinking, coordination and monitoring of site asset integrity strategies and planning to ensure equipment integrity and reliability, in accordance with global and local targets.

In addition, you will be responsible for the management, coordination and execution of site reliability engineering, static equipment integrity and asset integrity engineering teams.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading and developing of direct report team members
  • Providing direction, coaching and guidance to team members and the local reliability team
  • Providing performance management goals and feedback of direct reports
  • Own the Risk Based Inspection (RBI) Program relevant to ensuring the program is properly implemented, and that action plans are created, managed and implemented based on RBI recommendations that have an impact on plant reliability and safety
  • Coordinating and prioritizing reliability and asset integrity vulnerabilities across the site to ensure efficient and impactful utilization of resources, while achieving reliability KPI’s
  • Evaluating risk, and leading and supporting the decision-making process around major or critical equipment issues
  • Supporting the Chief Power Engineer with ABSA related equipment monitoring
  • Developing the static and rotating equipment strategy management system on site, and own the strategies
  • Liaising with key internal stakeholders to ensure there is a clear view on static and rotating equipment status and decisions
  • Assessing site equipment vulnerabilities and supporting the contingency planning process
  • Leading collaborative team planning, strategy development and execution for key equipment prior to shutdowns and turnarounds

In order to qualify for this role, you will have an undergraduate degree in Engineering, Journeyperson Trade certification, or a combination of other relevant certification and experience combined with a minimum eight to ten years relevant experience ideally in a chemical, energy, or another similar industrial setting.

You will also possess:

  • American Petroleum Institute Pressure Vessel Inspector certification or National Board In-service Inspection certification considered an asset
  • Strong knowledge of CSA, API, CGSB and ASME construction codes, standards and specifications related to fabrication or repair of pressure equipment, and NDE practices
  • Knowledge of failure mechanisms experienced in the chemical and petrochemical industry
  • Experience using failure analysis to identify and predict equipment deterioration
  • Experience with Fitness for Service calculations and Risk-Based Inspection programs
  • Sound judgment with a demonstrated ability to generate effective options in response to issues and make valuable decisions based on a mixture of analysis, wisdom and experience
  • Strategic agility, including the ability to analyze and interpret data, accurately identify trends and issues, recognize similarities between current and past circumstances, and anticipate future consequences and trends
  • A history of managerial courage, characterized by the ability to identify and address issues quickly and directly, including the ability to provide specific and actionable feedback to others
  • Superior mentoring skills and a demonstrated ability to foster the engagement and development of direct reports, cultivate a culture in which team members want to excel, challenge and stretch team members in meaningful ways, and build and strong, agile team
  • Superior business acumen including a demonstrated understanding of the fundamental dynamics of the market, how the business is positioned within the wider industry and how the business impacts financial results
