What is the opportunity?

As an Associate in Global Credit, Ratings & Monitoring team, you will be managing credit risk associated with your industry specific portfolio, gaining credit and industry expertise. You will be part of a corporate credit team, responsible for the ratings and surveillance of entities in the capital markets space.

This role calls for motivated and energetic analysts that are intellectually curious. You will provide industry thought leadership in the assessment, compiling and analyzing financial statements, managing complex financial models, assessing a company's competitive positions and industry outlooks. Associates are expected to monitor company and industry developments in real-time and to play an active role in rating committee presentations and quarterly industry roundtables.

This role also requires you to pay-it-forward, as you are expected to coach and mentor junior risk analysts.

What will you do?
  • Conduct credit analysis and assessment rating reports, including providing any additional analysis as required by the Team Lead, Risk Managers, new regulatory standards, etc.
  • Complete RAFs, including financial modeling where required to be adjudicated by Risk Managers
  • Actively follow business and financial performance of the borrowers in your portfolio through daily monitoring of financial and industry information, regulatory events, external rating agency movements, and other early warning signals
  • Assist in the timely and consistent preparation of materials to support risk rating activities, which include but are not limited to annual and interim reviews and credit comments
  • Maintain industry peer group comparisons, including research with respect to industry developments, regulatory changes and other issues as required
  • Develop thorough knowledge of the latest Criteria Papers and Policies and ongoing updates made to them
  • Completion of monthly/quarterly monitoring for all borrowers as required, and ensure compliance with terms and conditions of loan and other agreements, all on a timely basis
  • Identify deteriorating credits early and assess borrower risk; escalate when required, recommend a course of action to Loan Portfolio Management, Corporate Banking, Group Risk Management, Institutional Client and Credit Management, Corporate Clients Group, Asset Based Lending and other partners as appropriate



What do you need to succeed?

Must-have
  • MBA, professional designation (i.e. CPA, CMA, CFA, etc.), or a post-graduate degree with a focus in business, accounting, economics, mathematics, or other quantitative field
  • At least 2 years relevant work experience
  • Knowledge of financial risk management concepts and techniques, familiarity with financial markets and credit operations
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and proven ability to work in high pressure situations
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively build and manage relationships
  • High degree of computer literacy: MS Office Suite, database software, and electronic tools for on-line research
  • Self-motivated with a combination of strong financial/analytical skills and entrepreneurial mindset



Nice-to-have

Experience with Bloomberg, S&P, Capital IQ, Moody's, Tableau, SQL, Python
