Position Overview:

The successful candidate will join the Optik TV™ AV Pipeline Operations Team to provide leadership, technical expertise and support for TELUS Optik TV™ and complimentary IPTV services. As an AV Pipeline Ops Specialist, you will help ensure the successful delivery of content via the TELUS Content Delivery Network (CDN), Origin Servers and video compression environments. With our primary objective of providing the highest Quality of Experience to our customers, you will work on a team dedicated to exercising a proactive approach to Operations with a specific focus on monitoring, assurance, trending and reporting service and network performance to ensure the highest level of service availability.

Responsibilities:
    •Provide superior technical consultation to members of Optik TV™ Operations and other TELUS business units
    •Provide technical analysis and recommendations to engineering, enterprise network and/or vendors to ensure smooth delivery and implementation of enhancements and/or fixes to our Content Delivery infrastructure and associated services
    •Assess, plan and fulfill BAU maintenance routines and required system upgrade activities
    •Provide superior technical guidance to network teams for highly complex and critical service troubles to manage restoration of networks and services via 7x24 on-call support
    •Preparation of PIR, impact assessment reports and mitigation strategies associated with degradations/outages impacting Optik TV™ services
    •Manage and maintain evolving Content Delivery infrastructure and network/content monitoring systems
    •Successfully integrate into and support the technical team, enabling Optik TV™ Operations Teams to meet and/or exceed its service objectives
    •Ensure technical designs of networks are architected to be flexible, scalable, maintainable, and open in TELUS' n-tier environment
    •Review all content collection and delivery solutions in an effort to manage the appropriate use of standardized components and to ensure that the networks are planned, designed and implemented as per BCP requirements and defined architectures
    •Plan, architect, design, deploy, and support projects on time and on budget
    •Provide technical tasks and time estimates to the Network Planner and Project Manager
    •Conduct Test and Acceptance reviews and System Acceptance Testing for new services and Content Delivery Solutions
    •Lead the team in developing proactive measures, processes, practices and changes to support customer services and to resolve network/Content Delivery issues
    •Guide and mentor other team members to enable the delivery of quality customer services
    •Adherence and demonstrated use of change management processes
    •Manage change requests, trouble calls/tickets and work with vendors or partner teams to resolve issues
    •Develop and maintain documentation and information, e.g. Network diagrams, IP management, contact information, etc
    •Plan and coordinate installation of new hardware and software and upgrades to both (including patches and releases)
    •Develop and enhance Operational Support Tools
    •Work alongside talented colleagues in a fun, fast paced and challenging team environment
    •Test, identify issues, and troubleshoot to determine root cause
    •Track issues and ensure that they are resolved satisfactorily
    •Presentations to peer groups and Senior Management


Qualifications:


Required Knowledge:
    •Advanced knowledge, understanding and experience of:
      •Linux (Red Hat Enterprise/CentOS) •Video encoding/transcoding •IPV4 & IPV6 including but not limited to TCP/IP, ICMP, UDP, Multicast, HTTPS, SNMP, DHCP, SSL protocols, Internet routing and firewalls
      •Knowledge in DNS Operations
      •Working Knowledge of IPTV & OTT protocols (adaptive and progressive formats) •Experience with generating test plans and managing/performing the ensuing update and testing procedures •Hands-on familiarity with testing methodologies, and quality control •Strong Troubleshooting Methodology
    •Additional experience with any the following will be considered an asset:
      •familiar with Linux and Apache, Lighted webservers •familiar with Windows Server with IIS •Microsoft and Unix/BSD Operating Systems •Scripting with Bash/Perl/Python •CDN (Concepts and Network Architecture) •CDN performance monitoring principles •Network Storage (NFS, CIFS) •VMware •F5 Load Balancing •IBM Blade Center configuration •SQL (Oracle, MySQL) •Development experience (Shell, Perl, PHP, etc.)

Required Professional Designation/Certification:
    •Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering Degree/or equivalent diploma or experience

Required Experience:
    •3 years of relevant experience
