Position Overview: The Block Salvage Technician is responsible for inspecting and machining industrial application engine blocks.

Job Description:

Major Job Functions:
  • Complete block repairs (CAT, Wauksha, White Superior) on the Rottler machine such as installation of lower and upper liners
  • Thread repairs, polish align bores (mains) and inspecting cylinder blocks
  • Make accurate and cost effective recommendations for individual part repairs

**Candidate selection will be in compliance with the terms of the current Collective Agreement**

Specific Skills & Knowledge:
  • Competency in a machine shop environment
  • Must have accurate measuring skills
  • Able to read and understand technical documentation
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work well with minimum supervision
  • Ability to cold stitch cast iron would be considered an asset
  • A condition of employment is the ability to be fit tested and the ability to wear a respirator

Education & Experience:
  • J ourneyman Machinist would be considered an asset
  • Experience machining engine blocks using Rotter machines
  • Level 3 experience

  • This posting is for a static weekend shift scheduled Fri, Sat, Sun - 12 hours per day.
  • The successful candidate may be required to complete training during a Mon - Thurs / Fri weekday shift and will move to weekends once they have sufficient experience.
  • Ability to lift and handle material weighing up to 40 pounds
