Our Financial Risk Management Group is looking for a consultant/senior consultant to join its team in the Montreal office.

To support its strong growth, KPMG is recruiting a high number of financial professionals. You will be involved in a variety of projects with financial services clients, including asset managers, pension funds, major Canadian banks and insurers.

What you will do
Depending on your interests, you will work closely with Partners and Directors on assignments related to one or more of the following areas:
  • Investment and portfolio construction activities covering public markets (fixed income, equity markets) and private markets (infrastructure, real estate, private equity, private debt);
  • Investment risk management, governance and modeling for asset managers (market, credit, counterparty, liquidity, leverage and concentration risks);
  • Capital markets activities (cash management, sales and trading of financial instruments);
  • Financial risk management and modeling for capital market activities (FRTB, CVA, CCR) and financial instrument valuation models;
  • Support activities for investment and trading processes (new initial margin requirement, T+1 settlement, settlement-delivery processes).
During these various assignments, you will be called upon to :
  • Plan and monitor projects;
  • Assume a leadership role in the preparation of deliverables;
  • Quickly grasp concepts and problems at the heart of customer needs and suggest solutions or improvements;
  • Interact effectively with other team members and customers (internal and external).
  • Ensure alignment of proposed business solutions with the institution's strategic framework;
  • Communicate analysis results clearly and concisely to various stakeholders.
What you bring to the role
  • Graduate degree in finance, financial engineering, financial economics or related field.
  • 0 to 4 years' relevant experience in finance. Experience in data science, business intelligence or IT applied to finance will be considered;
  • Professional designation such as CFA or FRM an asset;
  • Good understanding of capital markets and market participants (banks, pension funds, asset managers);
  • Excellent knowledge of the Office suite;
  • Knowledge of a programming language (e.g. Matlab, Python, VBA, R)
  • Knowledge of technological systems supporting the investment world (E.g. Numerix, Bloomberg, Eagle, Murex, Simcorp), an asset;
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Sense of initiative, organizational skills and ability to manage priorities;
  • Ability to work as part of a team and build relationships;
  • Proven ability to handle multiple tasks with differing priorities;
  • Thoroughness and attention to detail;
    Proven ability to learn and succeed in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
