In accordance with established vision and values of the organization and working within the scope of regional Northern Health (NH) Policies and Processes and Northern Health Regional Food Safety Plan, this position performs duties related to the preparation and cooking of food items; portioning and serving food, washing and cleaning kitchen equipment, utensils and designated cooking/work stations. Responsible for assigning tasks to designated Food Service Workers.

In accordance with established vision and values of the organization and working within the scope of regional Northern Health (NH) Policies and Processes and Northern Health Regional Food Safety Plan, this position performs a variety of duties within a food service operation for patients, residents and staff such as portioning and serving meals, washing and peeling vegetables and fruit, preparing items such as salads, tea, coffee and toast, washing dishes, utensils, work areas, and performing cleaning duties and setting up and delivering meal carts.

Qualifications

- Graduation from a recognized 12-month program in cooking or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

- Ability to deal with others effectively.

- Physical ability to carry out the duties of this position.

- Ability to organize work.

- Ability to operate related equipment
