The Wireline Service Operations Center (WSoC) has the mandate to help TELUS enable best-in-class wireline experience by taking a customer centric view of service performance and enhancing business insights by leveraging advanced analytics and Augmented Intelligence.

The WSoC team is made up of highly skilled operational experts that will work alongside you to understand the complexities of our wireline products. Located right off public transportation in scenic downtown Edmonton, the team is a group of highly motivated individuals with an understanding that it is important to have fun as it is to deliver on our goals.

As a key contributor to the WSoC development, you will help create customer experience centric models to predict and prevent service degradations, discover new cost reduction/capital efficiency opportunities and model customer behaviour as it relates to network events and service experience.

Here's the impact you will make and what we will accomplish together

As a Data Scientist, you will be joining us as we evolve our current operational team to the customer's view of our complete wireline product catalog. Our objective is to expand our current Optik TV Service Operations Centre to provide a customer centric view of all wireline services focusing on service performance, improving likelihood to recommend by our customers, improving customer retention and acquisition.

You will combine your expert knowledge of wireline networks and analytics in applying machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) to drive actions and decisions. In close collaboration with teams across the company, you'll seek out various data sources and identify new business opportunities while championing data driven decision making and the accelerated adoption of Augmented Intelligence and Machine Learning. This role will shape transformational strategies and you'll be presenting your findings, ideas and project updates to our leadership teams.

    •Constructing, validating/testing and deploying artificial intelligence models that predict customer experience tied to network analytics •Design, develop innovative predictive models, metrics, and dashboards to uncover actionable insights working from raw and/or summarized data sources •Design and implement statistical data quality procedures for new data sources •Visualize and report data findings creatively in a variety of visual formats that appropriately provides insights to the organization •Ability to communicate findings in simple terms to business leaders and executives in order to influence how TELUS approaches their business challenges and opportunities •Ensuring all work is all properly documented and packaged while taking advantage of prior work in similar areas that can be repurposed


Qualifications:


You're the missing piece of the puzzle
    •Regarded as collaborative, creative, entrepreneurial and willing to experiment •Sought out for your application of data mining, predictive modeling, statistics and other analytical techniques to solve diverse business problems in a data rich environment •Respected for your ability to perform hypothesis testing and develop predictive models •Talented at understanding data warehouse/Hadoop architecture, ETL processes and the software development lifecycle (Waterfall and Agile/Scrum) •Known for your ability to develop experimental and analytic plans for data modeling processes •Skilled in various statistical techniques:
      •Machine Learning (Supervised/Unsupervised Learning): Classification, Clustering and Segmentation •Time series analysis and forecasting •Optimization •Causal Impact •Reliability analysis (time to failure) •Computer Simulation •Experiment Design
    •With 5 or more years of data analytics related experience in a matrix or consulting environment •With a Masters or PhD degree in Math, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics with a strong foundation in modeling, statistics, analytics, engineering or math

Great-to-haves
    •Data visualization using Tableau, Qlikview, Splunk or Domo •Hadoop data extraction using frameworks like Hive and from MPP platforms •Real time streaming analytics such as Spark •SQL, MySQL, Oracle, R, Python, Java, SAS •Cloud platform experience: Microsoft, Amazon, Google •Deep Learning such as RNN, LSTM, etc
