Position Overview:

In this position, you will be responsible for the technical implementation, testing, and maintenance of the development labs and infrastructure to support the TELUS IPTV Video products. As well you will support access to the systems for internal teams and external vendors.

The Optik TV Development Lab team is in the growing Chief Technology Office and they work and play with the newest and coolest TV technology. They are setting the groundwork and developing the next generation TV that will revolutionize the way Canadians watch TV. The team is very fun and doesn't take themselves too seriously. Laughing together is a daily ritual on this team - innocent pranks are often pulled to keep the mood light.

Responsibilities:
    •Analyze information to determine, recommend and plan installation of a new system or modification of an existing system •Customize features and functions •Write best practices and troubleshooting documents •Consult with engineering staff to evaluate interface between hardware and software, develop specifications and performance requirements and resolve customer problems •Coordinate and participate in installation of software system •Write test cases, test plans, and test reports •Test, identify issues, troubleshoot to determine root cause •Track issues and ensure that they are resolved satisfactorily


Qualifications:


Required Knowledge:
    •Experience with Microsoft Server Implementations and roles including:
      •Server 2008/2012 •MS Clustering •Windows IIS •Active Directory and DNS
    •Knowledge of F5 load balancers •Experience with Linux (CentOS or Redhat) •Experience with Hyper V installations •SCCM/SCOM experience an asset •Scripting language (Powershell/Perl) and Network troubleshooting and asset

Required Skills & Abilities:
    •Strong technical and analytical skills •Ability to make and present technical decisions •Strong team and project management skills and experience with a variety of technical projects and programs •Strong communication skills both verbally and in various presentation formats •Demonstrated ability to deliver finished products within projected timeframes •Ability to prioritize tasks well and work on multiple projects simultaneously •Ability to self-motivate and manage within a team environment •Willing to work in a fast pace and extremely FUN team

Required Professional Designation/Certification:
    •Engineering or Computer Science Degree

Required Experience:
    •5+ years of equivalent experience in the IT industry with focus, displaying progressive responsibility and achievement, in a large scale environment
