You are a skilled technical lead with a passion for discovering and automating data analysis and insights. You have an eye for strategy and exceptional judgement to communicate these insights to our team and our stakeholders. By continuously improving our 911 services, you will positively impact the lives of Canadians in a very direct and meaningful way.

Here's how

Design and implement solutions that provide a reliable customer experience for all 911-related mandated services, including driving the evolution of our key Next Generation 911 initiative.
    •911 ALI servers from a system perspective •Continuously improve complex 911 testing •Develop and improve support processes and interactions with customer service management, NTS switching and other groups within TELUS for any 911 issues •Create scripts and tools to enhance and maintain critical insights from raw data, develop dashboard reporting to enhance our alerting, proactive or predictive capabilities

Provide tier 3 support including any required 911 emergency service zone cutovers, as well as support any 911 troubles / issues and network concerns/outages. Can be called upon as required in fatality inquiries related to the 911 network.

You will help drive the evolution of our teams towards a DevOps and Agile culture and mode of working, drive and lead the adoption of an automation-first approach to our critical functions and explore customer feedback and analytics to drive improvements in 911 services.
    •You will drive process improvement through automation and learn to apply solutions to help our stakeholders unlock the potential from their data

Qualifications:


Required Knowledge:

Advanced knowledge, understanding and experience of:
    •Linux (Red Hat Enterprise/CentOS) •Video encoding / transcoding •IPV4 & IPV6 including but not limited to TCP/IP, ICMP, UDP, Multicast, HTTPS, SNMP, DHCP, SSL protocols, Internet routing and firewalls •Knowledge in DNS Operations •CDN (Concepts and Network Architecture/performance monitoring principles) •Microsoft and Unix/BSD Operating Systems •Scripting with Bash/Perl/Python/Shell •Network Storage (NFS, CIFS, Gluster) •Network Virtualization-VMWare, KVM, Hyper-V •F5 Load Balancing • Experience with generating test plans and managing/performing the ensuing update and testing procedures •Understanding of the voice and data interactions of a 9-1-1 call and the systems involved •Working knowledge of TCP/IP networking (routers/firewalls) for ESInet •Working knowledge of the NENA/TELUS AQS protocol •Ability to initiate contact with external customers and vendors • Ability to perform trouble analysis •Working knowledge of geospatial systems •Hands-on familiarity with testing methodologies, and quality control •Strong Troubleshooting Methodology •Confident in your knowledge of CI/CD DevOps best practices and the tools used to implement them •Visible champion and spokesperson for change

Required Skills & Abilities:
    •With 4-6 years of relevant experience, requiring advanced technical and analytical skills, confident in making and owning technical decisions • Advanced ability to lead and collaborate with a variety of diverse groups and technical teams (internal and/or external) •Support specific customer issues through assessment, interpretation, resolution or recommendations •Strong verbal and written communication skills, confident with presenting material to peers and senior management •Represent TELUS at the industry level (Emergency Services Working Group) on relevant TIF initiatives • Ability to work in an environment with high levels of ambiguity •Ability to manage key deliverables as part of an extended project team •Excellent interpersonal skills, talented at developing and fostering positive relationships with other team members •Bachelors' degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering or Technology graduate and/or equivalent combination of experience and education
