Join our team

With the convergence of innovative home and mobile networking technologies including fibre and 5G, smart home solutions, mobile devices, automation, cloud computing, and over-the-top capabilities, our customers' homes look very different in today's digital world. Every day, TELUS' engineering and development teams are envisioning what the future holds and building the technologies to simplify our customers' lives, provide services at the touch of a button, and create immersive entertainment experiences.

As Director of our Video and Entertainment Platform Architecture & DevOps team, you will be at the helm of developing and supporting a plethora of home and TV/media platforms and features using Agile development processes. This team is a part of our Future Friendly Home Services DevOps team, which is responsible for the end-to-end technology development and operations of TELUS' Optik TV services, video and over-the-top services, broadband network capabilities, smart home solutions, and software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN) solutions.

This is an exciting time to be a part of our mission to drive better outcomes through state-of-the art software platforms. The possibilities are endless and we're looking for a software enthusiast and self-starter who is filled with ideas as well as the delivery-focused mindset to execute them!

Here's the impact you'll make and what we'll accomplish together

You'll be responsible for leading a team of highly technical architects, software engineers, data analysts and operational experts who build and support new and evolving digital home services and media platforms across TELUS' Future Friendly Home line of business. Guided by DevOps and cloud-native approaches, combined with a deep understanding of TELUS' technology and architectural roadmaps, you will lead this high-performing team as they develop, support and maintain infrastructure standards and deployments in the public cloud that power next generation solutions for our customers.

Under your leadership, the Video and Entertainment Platform Architecture & DevSecOps team will support both the software architecture and analytics for new features and services by defining Agile squads, mapping deliverables, and providing end-to-end performance management capabilities to understand the real-time customer experience and ensure the reliability and availability of the solution. Another key priority of your team will be to develop, support and maintain TELUS' cloud-based infrastructure standards and deployments for our consumer solutions hosted in the public cloud. To this end, your team will be the go-to experts for supporting all TV/entertainment and digital home initiatives deployed in the public cloud, while enabling the necessary infrastructure for other agile squads to develop microservice based code for new services and features. As well, your team comprises our level 1 and 2 operational experts that support our overall Tier 1 and 2 operations for new software solutions as well as our end-to-end digital home services - the team serves as both a monitoring hub and the first line of response for detection and resolution.

•Build effective performance management abilities across our end-to-end solutions to understand the customer experience and continuously improve usability, reliability and availability (with the enduring goal of a frictionless experience)
•Champion high-quality coding and feature development work through the creation and application of automated testing, manual testing and other quality gates as appropriate
•Coordinate the release management process of software development, leveraging continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD)

•Resolve issues and conflicts, and escalate to the executive level when necessary
