ROLE SUMMARY

The Employer Engagement Specialist is responsible for finding and creating job opportunities for Learners by researching, identifying and soliciting commitments from a wide variety of possible sources of employment.  The Employer Engagement Specialist provides employers with information on the advantages and benefits of hiring Learners from the LevelUp Program. The Employer Engagement Specialist provides Learners with training to sharpen their interview skills, rework their resumes, and perfect their elevator pitches.  After successfully matching a client with an employer, the Employer Engagement Specialist will be available for retention support for both the employer and the client.

The Employer Engagement Specialist will maintain continuous contact with unemployed Learners providing them with employment leads and job search strategies until they have secured full-time employment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Actively solicit employment opportunities including: full-time paid employment placements; informational interviews; job interviews; and work experience placements
  • Prospect for and generate new employer leads for clients
  • Conduct face to face meetings with employers to generate new employment leads for Learners
  • Conduct needs analysis assessments with employers
  • Organize and host Employer Spotlights
  • Liaise with LevelUp Facilitator and Intake Coordinator to determine Learner needs
  • Perform one on one interview practice and resume reviews with clients
  • Coach, guide, and support clients as they prepare for interviews and networking events
  • Facilitate interviews and meetings with Learner and potential employer
  • Conduct initial employer on-site visits to ensure the best working conditions for future employees
  • Achieve employment placement goals in accordance with WCG’s contractual obligations
  • Maintain continuous contact with unemployed Learners through 90 days of post program follow-up, until they have secured full-time employment
  • Coordinate and facilitate work experience placements
  • Monitor employment and work experience placements to ensure both Learner and employer needs are met
  • Respond to and support situations that are considered an employment crisis
  • Serve as intermediary performance manager, relaying both positive and negative feedback between the Learner and the employer
  • Complete reports and document activities pertaining to the Learner
  • Create and maintain a database of employers and other community partners
  • Stay up-to-date on local labour market conditions and trends and share information with staff and management
  • Attend presentations at local Job Fairs and other employer related networking opportunities
  • Other duties as assigned and required

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • 2 years’ HR recruiting, business development or outside sales experience, with proven success in prospecting and building and maintaining relationships
  • Computer software knowledge and intermediate to advanced skill at using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Strong communication, presentation, and marketing skills
  • Ability to anticipate problems and develop contingency plans to deal with them
  • Strong emotional intelligence: ability to bring compassion, kindness, patience and strength to Learners and employers while staying focused on the goals of the LevelUp Program
  • Informed about the Calgary labour market conditions and trends
  • Knowledgeable on job search techniques and resume writing
  • Solid understanding of confidentiality and other professional codes of conduct; must submit for a criminal record check
  • Ability to travel within the Calgary area including clean driver’s license and own vehicle

Preferred:

  • Experience in assessing the needs of an employer and making an effective match
  • Employment program experience in a similar role will be considered an asset

Education:

  • University Degree, or diploma and experience in career development, adult education or a related discipline and/or combination of equivalent relevant education and experience
  • CCDP, RRP, CVP, RVP certifications considered an asset
