Enterprise Architect

Engagement period: Jan 2026 - June 30, 2026 (possibility of extension)
Location: Edmonton, Alberta (hybrid 2 days a week onsite)
Hours: 7.25 hours/day (36.25 hours/week)

Role Description Summary:

Our client is seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect to support the execution of their Digital & IT Strategy, divisional plans, and organization-wide Business Plan. This role provides strategic architecture leadership across a diverse environment that includes funding programs, applied research, and revenue-generating services. The architect will map business capabilities, analyze system overlap, define future-state architectures, and guide how our technology ecosystem (including Microsoft Azure, M365, SaaS platforms, data environments, and AI tools) should evolve to support a modern, scalable, and integrated enterprise. Although the role will not be fully hands-on, candidates with implementation or configuration experience within their technical operating environment will be preferred.

Scope of Work / Responsibilities

• Enterprise Architecture & Capability Mapping

o Develop current-state and future-state enterprise architecture (Conceptual, Logical and Physical) aligned to AI's strategic, business, and divisional plans.
o Map business capabilities across funding, applied research, and revenue-generating functions to supporting systems.
o Identify system redundancies, integration gaps, and opportunities for simplification and modernization.


• Systems & Platform Analysis

o Review the application and system landscape across corporate services, research operations, client-facing processes, and operational technology.
o Recommend rationalization, consolidation, or modernization approaches.


• Strategic Technology Alignment

o Ensure recommendations align with the Digital & IT Strategy, Data Program, AI Strategy, cloud strategy, and cybersecurity principles.
o Provide direction on how cloud, SaaS, network, and data-center components should integrate and support enterprise capabilities.


• Solution & Roadmap Guidance

o Support development of multi-year architecture roadmaps.
o Provide guidance-not hands-on design-on solution patterns, integrations, and platform alignment (CRM, HRIS, Finance, Contract Management, Data Management and Governance).


• Stakeholder Engagement

o Engage executives, business units, IT teams, and subsidiaries to validate processes, requirements, and architectural decisions.
o Lead workshops, discovery sessions, and alignment discussions.


• Documentation & Recommendations

o Produce architecture documentation, capability maps, diagrams, and recommended future-state options.
o Provide inputs into investment planning, sequencing, and prioritization.

Recommended Experience Level:
    5-8 years of experience in enterprise architecture, business architecture, systems analysis, and IT strategy roles in complex environments.
