Position Overview: Responsible for the assembly of engine finished goods. Major aspects include, but are not limited to: the high-quality assembly of progressive build steps including short and long block assembly, coupling for 3524 engines, addition of jewelry, and 1X parts. This role is responsible for full cycle remanufacturing of standard rebuild engines relative to supplied instructions. Based on business needs the successful candidate in this role may start in various steps of the assembly technician progression.

Job Description:

Major Job Functions:
  • Assembly of progressive build CAT diesel or natural gas engines
  • For example: one stage of progressive build could be assembly steps including but not limited to short block assembly, long block assembly, installation of heads, valve lash adjustment, installation of wiring harness or installation 1X parts on engines

**Candidate selection will be in compliance with the terms of the current Collective Agreement**

Specific Skills & Knowledge:
  • Competent in an assembly environment
  • Understand proper torqueing procedures
  • Capable of operating basic service tools as well as all critical analog measuring devices including dial bore gauges and micrometers
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to follow work instructions
  • A condition of employment is the ability to be fit tested and the ability to wear a respirator

Education & Experience:
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in heavy equipment engine trade*, with at least 2 years in Engine Assembly or Field Service capacity
  • Completion of any automotive or HD technician apprenticeship training considered an asset

  • This posting is for the static weekend shift scheduled Friday, Saturday, Sunday 12 hours per day. The successful candidate will be required to complete training during a Monday - Thursday rotating day/afternoon shift and will move to weekends once they have sufficient experience

Please note that any future shift changes that may occur will be made in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Collective Agreement.
