The Wireless Engineering team is a group of highly motivated and talented Radio Frequency (RF) Engineers who have a passion for deploying the network infrastructure to achieve best in class network services to our customers. We are the team that will be designing and engineering our 5G network.

As a Design Specialist I (Engineer I), you will collaborate with other RF Engineers and provide technical support to ensure we efficiently deploy network infrastructure to meet the increasing demand for wireless service.

Your efforts will ensure that our millions of customers are able to enjoy a world class wireless network experience. Your creativity coupled with strong automation and big data analytical skills will allow us to find the most efficient ways of building our wireless network to support existing mobility services and offer new services. Finally, together as a team, we will help shape the future vision of TELUS' wireless network by providing important guidance to executives on how to best address our evolving business challenges.

Here's how
    •Understanding and gathering RF engineering requirements and providing data analytics, web applications and scripting tools to help the Engineers in their day to day processes •Designing, developing, testing, and supporting custom web applications, dashboards and automation tools •Providing software engineering best practices, insights and guidelines to other RF Engineers to promote automation and efficiency •Working closely with RF Engineers through a variety of technical challenges that will require creativity and close collaboration across internal functions •Implementing data collection, and storage architectures to support our big data initiatives and data-driven insights •Creating mock-ups/wireframes and review with RF Engineers to ensure delivery of solutions that meet business needs •Managing the progression and execution of projects •Keeping up-to-date with software, data science and RF technologies and proposing new platforms and tools •Communicating effectively status updates, roadblocks •Assisting and supporting other team members


Qualifications:


You're the missing piece of the puzzle
    •Computer Science or Engineering degree or equivalent background •Respected for being a fully stacked Engineer •Skilled in 1+ year of software developing experience •Distinguished for your communication, problem solving, analytical and math skills •Regarded for your attention to detail and ability to work on concurrent projects •Commended for being a fast learner and resourceful •Known for effectively managing own time and ability to work independently and amongst a team •Confident with some of the following languages: C/C++, C# & Java •Knack for Structured Query Language (SQL), database design and development: MySQL, SQL Server, PostgreSQL Oracle, Hadoop, MongoDB •Known for your experience with markup languages: Hypertext Markup Language (HTML), Extensible Markup Language (XML) & JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) •Known for your experience with JavaScript frameworks like jQuery, AngularJS, React or others •Knowledge of one the following scripting languages: Python, R & Ruby •Passionate about automation, data science and machine learning

Great-to-haves
    •Master degree in Computer Science or Engineering •Knowledge of Tableau, Splunk or Alteryx •Knowledge of mobile telecommunications technologies: HSPA/LTE/5G, RF planning and design •Experience with data science and machine learning
