Technology Expert + Network Optimization + Customer Experience Champion = Engineer
As an Engineer II with the IP/Optical Network Capacity Management & Forecasting team, you will support and shape the planning of TELUS' national network, directly impacting customer experiences and business results. This complex role will expose you to a wide range of challenges covering - customer first strategy, reliability and cost, industry best practices, standards development and evolving regulatory requirements, in a fast-paced, changing marketplace and industry.
You will be collaborating with other Planning & Engineering teams and cross functional teams to provide capacity planning and forecasting recommendations that optimize routing and capital efficiencies. Clearly, your analysis of network utilization, traffic trends, marketing demands and new technology projects is critical to our success, including decisions made to:
•Build or enhance networks
•Optimize, add or collapse equipment
•Introduction new standards or services

•Support and enhance business intelligence capabilities:Qualifications:What YOU bring:
•Report KPI's in the capacity health scorecard
•Monitor, trend and forecast per service customer demands
•Prepare monthly and yearly forecast analysis
•Develop demand reports per business unit
•Prepare analysis package for bi-weekly and monthly action reviews and meetings
•Lead implementation of capacity management and forecasting systems
•Collaborate with Product Marketing to ensure the most reliable service and exceptional experiences for our customers:
•Build forecasts, including translating marketing product units forecasts into network unit forecasts
•Analyze new and legacy product forecasts
•Drive continuous improvement to ensure best in class forecasting accuracy by:
•Tracking and analyzing forecast variances
•Identifying and analyzing issues, and converting findings into recommendations/solutions
•Drive and champion innovative ideas and solutions by researching and analyzing disruptive trends within changing telecom market and regulatory dynamics and identifying new opportunities

•Strong communication, collaboration, negotiation and presentation skills, including the ability to effectively translate complex, technical issues, ideas or concepts to non-technical stakeholders at all levels across the organization
•Exceptional decision-making, based on logical assumptions, data and facts while also balancing risk and opportunity, and navigating through ambiguity
•Expert knowledge of: Who is TELUS?
•Database query and scripting languages (SQL, VB for Applications, Perl, Python)
•Big data and analysis applications (Hadoop, Tableau)
•Capacity management traffic analysis, forecasting and network capacity modelling tools
•Solid knowledge of:
•Development in an Agile and DevOps environments
•Statistics and forecasting principles
•Network planning and design principles, IP/MPLS and optical network architecture and topologies, network modelling methodologies (including studies)
•Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Excel Power Pivots, Visio, PowerPoint, Access DB)
•Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering
•5 or more years of experience developing process and tools for capacity management in a Tier 1 carrier environment
•Bilingual in French and English (written and verbal) is an asset
