As a member of the TELUS National Transport Design Team, you will be working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment responsible for developing and championing engineering standards, providing leadership and technical expertise. You will have the opportunity to work on next generation wireline transport, voice and IP technologies, as well as a variety of wireless technologies critical to the TELUS network.

This is an opportunity to join a highly technical, dynamic team during a transformational journey. With the increasing complexity of optical and radio systems and the advent of 5G wireless technology you will have the opportunity not only to influence the introduction of new technologies and leverage your expertise of modern engineering best practices, including automation and machine learning, but also build a core telecommunication network that delivers continued award-winning customer experiences.

Here's the impact you'll make and what we'll accomplish together

Our Design team is responsible for the designing all Circuit Vision engineering designs through the National TELUS Core Network from leading edge 100G optical transport to 5G wireless to the automation in a DevOps environment. We are paving the way towards redefining how we build a leading edge telecommunications network through agile methodologies and innovation at the centre of our strategy. You will contribute to providing TELUS customers with the most reliable network and the best user experience in every region of the country by efficiently executing on a next generation solutions that leverages technological innovation, automation, tools and key partnerships.

Here's how
•Plan, prepare and execute the engineering designs and rollout of new wireline and wireless technologies to further evolve the best in class network
•Develop method of procedures and business continuity plans enabling best in class network deployment standards
•Collaborate with key partner within TELUS and external partners by leading teams through complex deployments leveraging your technical experience
•Drive everyday innovation in our organization through automation or process improvements
•Apply a 'Reliability by design' approach during the new technology planning and rollout steps
•Proactively engage stakeholders in establishing strong interlock and defined timelines and taking the initiative to resolve project related issues while modeling diplomacy and tact
•Cultivate internal relationships with project manager, planners, marketing, engineering managers, and construction to ensure smooth workflow and strategic alignment with priorities

You're the missing piece of the puzzle
•Solid understanding of all three levels of transport layers: Layer 0 DWDM/CWDM (both active and passive systems); Layer 1 OTN (both point to point and switched networks); Layer 2 (traditional SONET networks, Ethernet)
•Ability to evaluate, refine and implement architectural designs based on your advanced knowledge of telecommunications technologies and architectures
•Experience designing, configuring, testing and evaluating transport and/or wireless networks such as SONET, DWDM/OTN, and Packet Transport
•University degree in Electronics, Electrical, Computer Science or Telecommunications preferred or equivalent proven industry experience
•Ability to manage through ambiguity using Agile program management principles to deliver new capabilities in recognizable iterations that advance a strategic roadmap of improvements and new opportunities.
•Coordinate concurrent projects and/or multiple resources to efficiently allow engineering resources to retire workload
