Fort Chipewyan is the oldest continuously inhabited isolated community in Northern Alberta, and it is homeland to the oldest traditionally practicing historic Metis community in Alberta. For eight months of the year the community is only accessible by limited air travel, the remaining 5 months accessible by road access. The Metis Association has been working for over 25 years to help care for our Metis community in this remote northern location. Metis Association, through projects, programming, training and daily care, work hard for the Metis community to ensure they can live and work in their community and on the land to uphold their traditional way of life, stay healthy and care for each.
As Executive Director of the Metis Association, you will lead the organization and ensure the implementation of the organization’s vision, mission, values and strategic plan. You will work alongside the Board of the Directors to develop and realize the vision of the Metis community. You will maintain effective relationships with local, regional, provincial and national organizations. As the Executive Director, you will bring a balanced approach between managing external engagement and responsibilities and fostering a strong and internal work environment. You will inspire, motivate and mentor fellow staff, volunteers and our Metis community.
