The Position

As an Extrusion Machine Operator at Western Concord Manufacturing, you will set up, operate and adjust our plastic manufacturing machines and auxiliary equipment. You will fill out the required documentation and ensure adherence to personal safety, quality, and food safety standards. In addition, this opportunity also involves continuously monitoring operating conditions and inspecting finished parts.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Following the required company SOP’s, Procedures and Health & Safety Standards in order to maintain an efficient and safe working environment
  • General duties involving the physical handling and preparing of equipment for the extrusion machines
  • Following a cleaning routine in order to ensure proper maintenance of the equipment and longevity of the equipment
  • Generating paperwork including: line sheets, production sheets, quality reports and checklists
  • Carrying out other associated duties as directed by Management and the Extrusion Team Leaders

Required Skill and Knowledge:

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience machine operating in a manufacturing environment
  • Previous machine set-up and troubleshooting skills preferred
  • Experience working with extruded plastic considered an asset
  • Ability to read a tape measure and use a calculator
  • First aid and Safety trained are considered assets
  • Fork lift license holder desired and considered an asset
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong mathematical and mechanical aptitude
  • High degree of flexibility and initiative
  • Strong communication, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Physically fit and able to lift 65lbs
  • Moderate aptitude and comfort using basic computer programs

Personal Characteristics:

  • Able to identify and distinguish product clarity and apparent defects while monitoring the product process
  • Ability to work the designated shift for this position
  • Reliable and punctual with a proven attendance record
