You will be a part of a customer facing business unit that includes the following broad areas: Marketing, Products & Services, Channels (Sales), Business Sales, Client Services and Client Operations, IT Services. Through this business unit you will gain exposure to a wide range of Customer telecommunication products and services.

TELUS is currently looking for the best and brightest university students to join our exciting and rigorous student/co-op program. This is an excellent way for you & TELUS to explore long-term fit for our permanent positions as a new grad.

Your fall 2019 student/co-op program is an exciting and rigorous 4 or 8 month program available to both undergraduate and recent graduate students. Several roles are available in various locations nationally (see descriptions below). Fit will be determined based on a combination of your strengths, personal interest and also business need.

Customer Network Implementation, PureFibre Planning & Engineering Co-op Student (Calgary, AB 8-12 months, one positions)




Here's the impact you'll make and what we'll accomplish together

The Customer Service Excellence business unit is on a mission to ensure speed and capacity for generations to come, and to create the foundation for access to future solutions like the connected home, smart cities, and TELUS Health applications. The team enables innovation in the delivery of education, healthcare solutions, and consumer and business products/services through planning and engineering of the outside plant infrastructure for TELUS' fibre footprint across BC, AB, and QC.

Here's how
    •Interlock and collaborate with internal stakeholder teams such as Standards, Marketing, Project Management, Engineering Design, and Build for community selection, planning, and implementation •Develop tactical plans to provide fibre expansion builds for selected communities •Identify unit cost efficiencies for materials and labor for projects •Work with municipalities, 3rd party utilities, and build partners to maximize build efficiency •Perform audits for records accuracy •Drive process improvements and participate in workshops to generate new ideas •Gain knowledge of Telco networks and fibre footprint capacity •Learn key systems (MyWorld, Spatial Net, JIRA, DOMO, Confluence, Netcracker, Circuit Vision, FIFA, SAP) used extensively throughout TELUS •Receive job shadowing/mentoring with established senior networking planners •Foster contacts with teams downstream and upstream of the Customer Network Implementation Planning and Engineering teams


Qualifications:

With:
    •Effective oral and written communication skills •Proficiency with MS Office Suite and G-Suite •Capable of working in a team environment and collaborating with others on projects •Self-starter and independent when provided direction •Openness to creativity, innovation, and automation as an approach to improve the status quo for processes and systems •Demonstrated ability to produce work based on application of sound economic analysis and adherence to guidelines established by network standards •Proven track record with planning and organizing to meet scheduled deadlines and cost constraints •Capable of following municipal and civil policies and procedures with developers and vendors

Great-to-haves
    •Engineering, Computer Science, or Telecommunications background
    •Knowledge of GPON networks
    •Engineering University or Technical College programs preferred but not essential (open to science or business students with an interest in technology)
