ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Methanex has an opening for a Finance Summer Student - Turnaround who is interested in expanding their skill set with our team in Medicine Hat, AB.
This is a temporary position with a commencement date of May 2020 and an anticipated duration of approximately 4 months through August 31, 2020.
The Finance Summer Student will be a critical member of the Turnaround (TAR) Finance Team. A key responsibility of the Finance Summer Student will be to assist with the configuration and training on the Electronic Labour, Equipment and Material (E-LEM) system. The system tracks all contractor hours and assigns them to an individual Work Order or Purchase Order and will be critical to the financial success of the 2020 Turnaround.
In addition, the Finance Summer Student will collaborate with other TAR Finance Team members with tracking spend using the data from the E-LEM system. The Finance Summer Student will update assigned financial models and prepare financial reports/forecasts for the TAR Finance Lead.
In order to qualify for this role, you must be enrolled in an undergraduate degree in Business, with a focus in Accounting or Finance, or a combination of other relevant certification and experience.
The successful candidate will also be fully competent in Microsoft Excel and possess strong analytical skills and excellent reporting skills.
Ideal candidates will present a self-motivated, positive and enthusiastic attitude, paired with excellent interpersonal and team collaboration skills. It is important that you demonstrate learning agility where you are able to consistently and readily retain new information and demonstrate acquired skills.
