The Opportunity:

WSP is seeking an Entry Level Geotechnical Engineer to join our Prairies & North Geotechnical Engineering & Laboratory Group in WSP's Saskatoon office on a full-time basis. The roles and responsibilities will entail a combination of technical work and involvement in developing our geotechnical engineering business including proposal writing, and client development.

What you can expect to do here:

As an Entry Level Geotechnical Engineer, a day in the life involves time spent in the field as well as working in the Saskatoon, SK office on projects and assignments related to geotechnical engineering. You'll work closely with our tight-knit team, be mentored by industry experts, and work on various project throughout Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical support in geotechnical projects including field investigation, laboratory test result interpretation; design and construction; and geotechnical analysis
  • Complete geotechnical analyses including bearing capacity, settlement, slope stability and seepage under the direction and supervision of intermediate and senior engineers
  • Assist senior team members in preparing geotechnical studies, prepare proposals, cost estimates and engineering reports
  • Coordinate and carry out field reviews of construction works and materials testing
  • Complete geotechnical investigations including test pitting, drilling, and cone penetration tests
  • Participate in and promote a safety-first culture

What you'll bring to WSP:
  • 0 to 2 years of relevant (post-degree) experience working in a consulting engineering environment
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Geological Engineering with Geotechnical emphasis from an accredited university
  • Registered or eligible to be registered as an Engineer in Training in Saskatchewan
  • Strong technical writing, interpersonal communication, and emotional intelligence
  • Openness to work away from the office and on project sites
  • Sense of initiative and be self-directed with the ability to work well under pressure, meet deadlines and co-operate with a diverse, multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to safe work practices for yourself and your colleagues
