Position Overview:The Global Network Engineer I is an intermediate level professional role which will be responsible for supporting network infrastructure services and data centers to ensure that service levels for coverage, reliability and speed are achieved. This position will also provide support for VOIP infrastructure and RF Scanners.

You will work closely with internal business teams across all Finning regions, contractors and vendors to successfully provide technology services and carry out to established SLA's and policies. You will be comfortable interacting and supporting clients at all levels, from the CIO down throughout the global organization, and will provide coaching and mentoring to members of team. You will also be instrumental in providing direct client support to the Finning Digital team.

You will be involved in various local and global projects, communicating effectively and collaborate with other IT professionals across Finning and key vendors.

Job Description:
Major Job Functions

  • Support service level delivery through the deployment and maintenance of network infrastructure services, including LAN / WAN / WLAN services, communication services, cabling, equipment installation and removal, UPS management, PBX / SIP / Analog throughout Finning locations globally
  • Playing a critical role supporting IT projects through the Project Management office
  • Regularly communicate with business to understand requirements and establish design and operational best practices where possible to improve network service delivery globally
  • Develop lifecycle strategy for assets within the infrastructure and continuously review with the goal to improve costs and service delivery
  • Measure and communicate performance metrics for Infrastructure Services and analyze data to discover opportunities for service improvement
  • Building relationships with vendors to identify gaps and opportunities with new technologies
  • Standardize network processes, procedures and equipment globally acting as the global SME, documenting high level designs for services
  • Infrastructure project implementation and service level agreements for all regions
  • Effective collaborating and communication across multiple teams, business partners and vendors
  • Ensure approved policies are being followed, including vendors and risk identification
  • Operational documentation of infrastructure is developed and maintained
  • Forecasting and planning of inventory refresh
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning and provide a technical solution to the business requirements.

Qualifications for the role:
  • 3 to 5 years of demonstrated networking support
  • CCNA or equivalent experience (minimum 5 years in networking/wireless technology).
  • Broad understanding of end to end Wireless infrastructure including authentication process.
  • Experience in management of datacenter Core Infrastructure
  • ITIL methodology and demonstrated experience
  • Training on industry standard technology (Certificates would be an asset)
  • Experience with vendors on service offerings, solution reviews and pricing
  • Broad working knowledge across various Infrastructure services (LAN, WAN, Wireless LAN, RF Scanners, Firewalls (Palo Alto/Cisco).. etc)
  • Broad understanding of end to end Wireless infrastructure including authentication process
  • Strong Understanding of Cisco routing and switching, QoS, Routing protocols OSPF, EIRGP, etc, device management, WAN Accelerators and VPN technology.
  • Functional knowledge working with Microsoft Office application suite
  • Understanding of Project management
  • IT Security understanding to ensure wireless network access is controlled and compliant.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English, with Spanish as a considerable asset for collaborating with our operational regions
