Position Overview: Position located in Hinton, AB

Reporting to the Field Service Foreman, this individual will be responsible for all repairs, troubleshooting, adjusting, overhauling, and maintaining mobile heavy-duty Caterpillar equipment used in construction, forestry, mining, oil, and gas, must be able to perform each essential function adequately.

Residing in Hinton, AB to support start up of Coalspur mine.

Job Description:

Major Job Functions:
  • Troubleshoot, repair and maintain all heavy duty equipment and/or related equipment in a timely fashion
  • Respond to customer needs in a positive, supportive, and timely manner to ensure maximum value for work performed
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required
  • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems, using hand and power tools
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturer specifications
  • Perform routine maintenance work

Specific Skills & Knowledge:
  • Ability to multi task, detail oriented, positive attitude, and team player
  • Possess Journeyperson HET Certification
  • The ability to troubleshoot and solve problems
  • Computer knowledge
  • Ability to work alone or as a member of a team
  • An interest in keeping up with new technologies
  • Able to repair all equipment
  • Mechanical aptitude with strong knowledge of parts and repairs
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and service literature
  • Ability to create standard correspondence

Education & Experience:
  • Valid Driver's license
  • H2S Alive
  • Fall Protection
  • Forklift
  • Overhead Crane
  • Eye, Hand and Back Safety
  • Transportation of Dangerous goods
  • Contamination control
  • Any other relevant training as required
  • Heavy Equipment Technician (Red Seal)
  • Previous experience with Caterpillar equipment/engines (min 4 yrs)
  • Understanding of electrical, electronic, hydraulic, mechanical, pneumatic systems and components
  • Have a concern for safety and awareness of safe working procedures

  • This is a 6 on, 6 of night/day continuous day/night shift
  • Successful candidate will reside in Hinton, AB to support start up of Coalspur mine
  • Overtime hours are a requirement of this position
  • As required, out of town assignments could include overnight stays
  • Candidate will be required to submit a current successful Driver's Abstract contingent to gaining the position.
