Heavy Equipment Technician - Fort McMurray, AB (Fort Hills)

This role will be a permanent opportunity and the successful candidate will be working in Fort Hills near Fort McMurray, Alberta on a rotation of 7x7 days and nights.

Your new role
Reporting to the Field Supervisor, the Heavy Equipment Technician maintains, repairs, and rebuilds heavy equipment in the field and shop in a safe, efficient, and capable manner. This position works 12 hour shifts on a 7x7 rotation (days and nights). Please note that this is a fly-in fly-out camp position, but the flights are only out of Calgary or Edmonton.

You will be responsible for working in the field to perform assemblies, preventative maintenance, repairs and complete overhauls of heavy equipment servicing the mining industries. You will need to be able to make recommendations and suggest methods of improvement regarding repairs.

As a heavy equipment technician, you will need to be able to think logically and keep up with changes in technology. You will interpret work orders and technical manuals to guarantee top customer satisfaction. You must be motivated and able to work in a challenging environment and have strong awareness and attitude towards workplace health and safety.

What you'll need to succeed
You will possess a Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician certification. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. Interprovincial Red Seal is considered an asset. You will have experience in repair/maintenance of heavy duty equipment. Experience with mining size Komatsu large excavators and shovels or haul trucks is considered an asset, but other brands of heavy equipment in similar sizes and models will be considered too. You will bring strong written and verbal communication skills to the team.
