The Gingolx Village Government is one of four Nisga’a villages that make up the Nisga’a Nation. It is a growing organization that has been a beehive of activity over the past two years. The success which Gingolx has seen can be attributed to the formation of solid partnerships with community groups, foundations and external partners and stakeholders including federal and provincial Government agencies and departments.

During the past year, much emphasis has been placed on the areas of Community and Economic Development. Gingolx has also recently expanded this area to include Social Development to better support community initiatives.

About the Opportunity

Currently, we are in need of a Housing Manager for the Nisga’a Village of Gingolx, located in Northern British Columbia.

In this pivotal role, you will report to and work directly with the Chief Administrative Officer, and have the following duties:

  • Plan, develop, and implement a strategy for Housing Development (covering particular areas relevant to the organization's mandate)
  • Ensure activities meet with and integrate with Government requirements for quality management, health and safety, legal stipulations, policies and general duty of care
  • Monitor, measure and report on New Housing development plans, renovation plans and achievements within agreed formats and timescales
  • Manage and control departmental expenditures within agreed budgets

In order to qualify for this role, you must have a Certified Property Management Degree or a related degree such as business administration with at least five years related experience which included the supervision of staff.

Our ideal candidate will also have:

  • Knowledge of the Nisga's Language and Culture
  • Knowledge of Nisga'a Treaty
  • A valid BC driver's license
  • The capability of providing a criminal records check

It is essential that you have a valid driver's licence, and can provide a criminal records check.

This exciting opportunity will require excellent communication skills bolstered by a customer service mentality and a willingness to work diligently with the chief, council, and community of Gingolx.
