First Canada, our nation's largest provider of bus passenger transportation, has openings for Temporary Bus Drivers to provide busing services to most of the major energy producers in Fort Saskatchewan.

Responsibilities :
  • Ensure that Safety is the number one priority;
  • Enjoy interacting with the public and deliver the best customer service at all times with a strong commitment to excellence;
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor;
  • Drive one of several different coach/buses or company non-revenue vehicles in a safe, courteous, and reliable manner throughout the contracted service area within a daily assigned time schedule;
  • Maintain the appearance of the interior of the bus;
  • Perform pre/post trip vehicle inspections as required;
  • Complete and submit written reports concerning passengers and all accidents, and communicate with dispatch as required;
  • Assumes any and all other duties assigned.

Experience :
  • A valid Class 2 Driver's Licence with 4 years driving experience;
  • A willingness to work a variety of shifts;
  • A 5 year clean, "No Contraventions" Driver's Abstract with zero demerits;
  • To be able to pass background check;
  • To be able to pass drug and alcohol testing.


  • Must have 4 year's experience driving the type of vehicle they will be required to operate;
  • Must have Construction Safety Training System or Petroleum Safety Training certification;
  • Driver Training Program that includes Low Daylight Visibility Skills training (e.g. driving in fog);
  • Complete accredited defensive driver training course within 3 months of employment and every year after initial training;
  • Valid license with the correct class and endorsements for the type of vehicle to be driven;
  • Completed behind the wheel evaluation;
  • Driver Remedial Training (post incident or when a driver issue is discovered);
  • IVMS data to improve driver performance;
  • Trained and compliant with Hours of Service limits;
  • Fatigue Awareness Training completed;
  • Trained on safe passenger loading/unloading procedures;
  • Driver Training Program covering onboarding/orientation into the company;
  • Shell orientation including training on Life Saving Rules. Drivers are also aware to remind their passengers to wear seatbelts if seen not to do so;
  • Train drivers to drive with their day running lights or headlights on during daytime;
  • Drivers trained on process to ensure only authorized passengers are permitted;
  • Roles and responsibilities for all employees is clearly identified in your Emergency Response Plan and all staff are formally trained to understand these roles;
  • Drivers trained on emergency response plan specific to incidents with passengers on board (e.g. a scenario where the bus is on side of a highway and out-of-service with passengers onboard);
  • Drivers wear PPE as required by site policy and your Safety Management Plan.
