Job Description & Summary
A career within International Tax services, will provide you with the opportunity to help multinational companies address their cross border tax needs both locally and globally by managing their global tax rates, finding areas of cost reduction, and responding to inquiries from regulatory authorities. You'll gain a global perspective and an awareness of tax issues stemming from changes to evolving business structures and geographic expansions.
Our International Tax Services Generalist - Client Services team advises our clients on tax laws and reporting, legislation and planning strategies based on their geography and jurisdiction. You'll be helping our clients with local tax laws, reporting requirements, statutory filings, corporate strategy, transfer pricing and indirect tax and other international taxation needs.
As a Senior Manager, you'll work as part of a team of problem solvers with extensive consulting and industry experience, helping our clients solve their complex business issues from strategy to execution. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Additionally, you will be responsible for:
Developing your understanding of Canadian and foreign jurisdiction tax systems in order to bring optimal tax and business solutions to clientsTeaming with other tax group members in corporate tax, transfer pricing, U.S. tax and mergers & acquisitionsBuilding long term relationships with clients and other firm practice areas including Audit and
Consulting & DealsCanadian international tax compliance including review of surplus calculations and T1134 foreign reporting forms;Structuring foreign companies' investment into Canada;Structuring Canadian companies' investment into foreign jurisdictions, including the use of holding company structures, joint venture arrangements, acquisition strategies etc.;Financing outbound investments using tax effective structures and strategies;Reorganization of a Canadian company's international operations including tax implications of foreign divisive reorganizations, mergers, liquidations;Planning for the disposition of foreign affiliates;International tax research on topics such as treaty issues, foreign tax regimes;Assistance with professional development activities such as writing articles, presentations and proposals.
CPA designation, legal background or a masters in taxationAt least, 7 years' experience in Corporate TaxationRelevant experience in the International Tax area and completion of the CPA Canada International Tax course are preferred but not prerequisites.Critical and innovative problem solving abilityStrong communication skillsStrong team player being able to adapt to different people and situationsDemonstration of having built or building a network of business contractsAbility to manage large complex assignments including engagement economics and billing
