Key Activities and Responsibilities but not limited to

  • Identifies and responds to issues affecting client safety;
  • Improves client health and safety by actively searching for opportunities to educate clients and their families on creating a safe home environment and to ensure that proper health teaching is always given when possible;
  • Performs initial and ongoing client assessments
  • Monitors each client’s well-being and observes for signs of ill health, ensuring that appropriate professionals are involved in the case at all times

  • Nursing Degree or Diploma
  • CARNA Active Registration for RN
    CLPNA Active Registration for LPN
  • Valid CPR certificate
  • Immunization Record with TB testing

The Health Care Aide (HCA) provides basic nursing care to patients/residents as directed, assists with activities of daily living, and performs other activities necessary to meet the personal needs of patients/residents. The HCA maintains and promotes patient/resident safety, comfort, privacy, dignity and independence, and performs duties to maintain an aesthetic environment.

Position Requirements and Skills

Alberta Government Qualified HCA Certificate
International RN’s with completion/enrolment of PLAR program
Valid CPR certificate
Immunization Record with TB testing
Police Check with Vulnerable sector screening
Physically able to assist with all aspects of patient/resident care and transport, e.g. walking, standing, bending and lifting.
Must be able to understand written and verbal directions in English.
Well organized and flexible. Able to respond to competing requests for assistance.
Caring and respectful behavior with clients, families and visitors.
Effective interpersonal and communication skills with clients, families, visitors, and team members.
Effective time management skills.
