Job Description:

TD Wealth Management Technology team is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a team of Engineers implementing solutions in alignment with the firm's technology strategy, vision and roadmap. The team is responsible for designing, developing and delivering technology solutions for TD's Direct Investing Product Group.

Position Overview

The candidate will work on technology initiatives related to the implementation and delivery of scalable API's/Microservices and applications that power the trading platform and products. This critical function ensures timely and high-quality deliverables that meet the business needs and the technology vision. The candidate will lead a team of Java, Spring boot and Angular developers building these systems and work extensively with our business analysts, product owners, solution architects and QE teams to ensure delivery of our solutions to business stakeholders. The candidate will also ensure the application meets all its obligatory regulatory and audit requirements such as data security, application security, user and access management.

We are seeking an experienced Java development lead, with a proven track record as a team lead. The candidate must have very strong Java experience. The candidate must be pro-active and self-driven, with the ability to work under pressure, great communication and management skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a development team of 10-25 Java developers, building Services and User interfaces. Provide guidance to the team on implementation, architecture and design, review pull requests and implement software development best practices.
  • Work with Product Owners, technology business analysts and QE to understand regulatory and business requirements, define technology solutions, and understand how they can be implemented in a strategic and efficient way.
  • Communicate development issues and priorities to business stakeholders. Help prioritize incoming business and technical requirements and refine them into work items for the team.
  • People management responsibility for the team. Provide support to the team in meeting the team's and their personal performance objectives.
  • Liaise with infrastructure and engineering teams to define hardware and system requirements. Define DevOps requirements for the team and work with the engineering team to ensure they are implemented.
  • Assist with L3 Production Support and lead the team in supporting ongoing application maintenance and changes. Help to resolve any production issues if they occur.
  • Ensure applications meet all relevant regulatory and audit requirements.
  • Proactively manage issues from discovery to resolution.

Requirements / Qualifications
  • 3+ years' experience leading a Java development team.
  • 10 years Java experience and experience with building Microservices, REST APIs, JSON, Autosys for batch jobs, Dynatrace for application supportability
  • 3+ years' experience with an RDBMS system like Oracle or SQL Server
  • Pro-active with excellent communication skills. Highly organized with strong problem-solving and prioritization abilities.
  • Experience in financial services and Wealth Management preferred.
  • Experience with Jira/Confluence (or similar tools) to manage project scope, progress and deliverables.
  • Some experience with cloud technologies preferred.
