Position Overview: This position is responsible for providing the direction, guidance and leadership to the operation accounting team. As well, this position is to ensure accuracy and timeliness in all areas covered by the operations accounting team and designated balance sheet items.

Job Description:

Major Job Functions:
  • Provide guidance on accounting standards and controls
  • Monitor and enforce policy and procedures
  • Ensure transactions are processed in a timely and accurate manner
  • Regular process review to identify improvement opportunities
  • Consult for budget and forecasts for all balance sheet areas designated
  • Consult for monthly balance sheet analysis prepared for review by executive
  • Special projects and activities as required
  • Responsible for all designated balance sheet accounts and related income statement accounts for Finning Canada dealership and select subsidiary entities
  • Responsible for all policies/procedures related to operations accounting
  • Prepare quarterly reporting templates for areas covered by operations accounting
  • Lead various projects as required with assistance from Regional Controller
  • Prepare Quarterly reconciliations for review by Controller
  • Responsible for the day to day leadership of staff, including recruitment and selection, orientation, coaching and mentoring, performance feedback, and supporting growth and development opportunities for the operations accounting team
  • Key contact for all operations accounting enquiries from operations and Finning International
  • Management of payroll accounting including maintenance of confidential accruals related to severance
  • Management of Fixed Asset accounting and Lease accounting
  • Lease accounting includes the transition to IFRS16 and go forward procedures related to the new accounting.

Education & Experience:
  • Post-Secondary in business field
  • Professional Accounting designation or MBA
  • Minimum 7 years related experience in payroll accounting required
