We are looking for a dynamic, hands-on candidate that has a keen insight into corporate operations with a demonstrated ability to enhance the People and Culture team by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and human resources policies, practices, and programs. The candidate will lead efforts to support operational management to meet company goals and objectives and play an integral role in driving our award-winning company culture. They will oversee full-cycle recruitment at levels to lead, mentor and train a customer centric employee base that strives to go above and beyond in service delivery. They will be directly responsible for the overall administration, coordination, and evaluation of all P&C functions for Paladin's Edmonton branch.

Job Skills / Requirements

Recruitment and Selection
  • Manage and lead a collaborative recruiting team that can meet the demands of a growing company
  • Rewrite job descriptions as necessary; analyze compensation and monitor the performance evaluation program and suggest revisions as needed
  • Implement new sourcing methods
  • Coordinate with the Director of Operations and Client Service Managers to forecast future hiring needs

Performance Management
  • Define consistent data-driven metrics and goals for the People and Culture team
  • Advise on complex human resource topics such as progressive discipline, investigations, terminations, performance management, workers' compensation, and benefits.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to ensure successful implementation of HR Metrics is achieved according to individual departmental needs and goals
  • Maintain records and compile statistical reports concerning personnel-related data such as hires, transfers, performance appraisals, and absenteeism rates

Learning, Development and Career Planning
  • In close partnership with the senior leadership team, continue to strengthen a high-performance culture through effective organizational design, employee and leadership development and HR practices

Employee Care and Retention
  • Support employees and managers through all WCB claims
  • Effectively balance employee and company interests to manage risks and create a positive employee relations environment
  • Analyzing exit interviews, assemble relevant data into monthly reports and recommending changes in employee relations to the Director of People and Culture

Company Brand and Culture
  • Oversees the orientation process for all new employees by establishing a strong and informative orientation that fosters a positive attitude towards organizational objectives
  • Administer the Employee Recognition program
  • Foster an open door policy for all employees

Compliance and Legal
  • Work in conjunction with the Director of People and Culture to review and investigate all Employment Standards and Human Rights claims and represent the company's interests in all claim processes
  • Proactively identify changes to legislation affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are up to date and compliant with all governing bodies in the province of Alberta
  • Ensure company policies are communicated, applied, and enforced
  • Oversee active and historical human resources employee files by ensuring all relevant employee documentation is accounted for, updated and filed in each employee personnel file
  • Oversees all statutory requirements are met. This includes licensing, training, WCB, Human Rights, and Employment Standards

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Education and Experience
  • Undergraduate degree in Human Resources and/or an undergraduate degree with a post-graduate degree/diploma or certificate in Human Resources
  • CPHR designation is an asset
  • A minimum of 5 years progressive HR Generalist experience
  • Minimum of 3 years managerial experience with a demonstrated history of progressive management responsibilities

Functional Skill and Ability Requirements:
  • Results driven with a desire to work in a fast-paced environment; equally adept at providing leadership as well as working side by side with the team while delivering on multiple concurrent initiatives that have significant financial impact
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Proven ability to embrace change and adversity in a rapidly growing and changing environment; previous experience in managing and driving change efforts is preferred
  • Models customer focused approach in all decisions and actions; able to assert own ideas, persuade others and negotiate effectively
  • Demonstrates a high level of discretion and confidentiality
  • Strong project management skills to lead projects and create employee buy-in


Education Requirements (Any)

Human Resources, Business or Office Administration
Bachelor's Degree
CPHR considered an asset
Valid Class 5 Non GDL Drivers Licence
