The Opportunity: Manager, U.S. Tax
The U.S. Tax team in the PwC Calgary office is currently seeking a Manager to join their practice. The group offers effective, innovative strategies to plan and manage taxes to help their clients attain optimum results and control compliance costs.
As a Tax Manager, you will review and advise Canadian based multinational companies with respect to their U.S. tax matters, including U.S. tax provision, tax compliance and tax consulting. For example, you will advise companies on the tax implications of both their U.S. domestic and foreign operations to obtain an optimal tax minimization strategy.
You will have the opportunity to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment, to be the main client service contact for your clients, to network extensively with existing and prospective clients, and to participate in proposals and other business development efforts. You will assume a high degree of responsibility and exposure within the firm as well as have the opportunity to concentrate your efforts on corporate tax provision support, tax consulting, tax planning issues and providing industry knowledge and technical expertise to clients in a variety of industries.
What You Can Expect From a Career in U.S. Corporate Tax:
CA, CPA, plus completion of the Masters of U.S. Tax is an asset.Six or more years of experience in advising companies on their federal tax issues in the areas of tax planning, provisions and compliance.Ability to review and prepare complex tax provisions, including IAS 12 and ASC 740.Extensive experience with preparing and reviewing U.S. tax compliance encompassing Federal Forms 1120, 1120-F, 1120-S, 1120-REIT, 1065 and state and local tax reporting for corporations, REITs, S-corps, LLCs and partnerships.Ability to analyze a foreign person's U.S. filing requirements for investments in the U.S. Assist U.S. corporations, U.S. private equity funds and foreign investment structures in conducting fundamental tax research and developing financial models for business strategies.Prepare and review quarterly and year-end income tax provisions under ASC740 and IAS 12 including defer tax calculation, current tax provision and total tax rate reconciliation. Prepared Tax Memorandum with respect to FIN 48 tax accounting analysis. Conduct advisory and due diligence services including transactions, formation, acquisitions, dispositions and daily on-call requests.Participate in review of multistate apportionment factors projects and state nonresident withholding requirements.Ability to write correspondence to U.S. IRS and state taxing authorities in relation to tax notices. Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple assignments; Strong corporate and international tax skills; Willing and capable of doing a final review of tax returns; Superior problem solving skills, excellent verbal, written and presentation skills; Strong analytical capability, sound business sense and creative mind that have earned you a reputation of providing excellence in client service; Strong team player with effective interpersonal skills; Powerful motivator and effective coach to those who work with you; and Skilled at managing existing clients and seeks opportunities to take on business development activities.
