Responsibilities

As a Director, you'll work as part of a team of problem solvers with extensive consulting and industry experience, helping our clients solve their complex business issues from strategy to execution. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Proactively lead the practise by setting strategy, drive the development of new business in the market, and provide technical advice across disciplines
  • Building strong networks within the firm to spot and capitalise on opportunities to get involved in projects that others are leading across a number of different business units and sectors
  • Identifying and discussing key issues with our clients to identify potential opportunities
  • Responsibility for a majority of day to day client communications
  • Responsibility to shape and deliver various projects that exceed the expectations of our clients and our own assignment quality criteria
  • Manage and deliver large projects by developing the project team, assessing engagement risks throughout, driving conclusions, and reviewing / challenging the output produced by the team
  • Responsibility for management of engagement financials
  • Helping to grow and develop our team through hands on training and coaching


  • The individual that will fill this position will be responsible for leading sales and client relationship development, delivering advisory projects, leading teams and managing client relationships in the EUMI (Energy, Utilities, Mining, Industrial Products) practice in Canada. This position is a hands-on consulting role combining sales and delivery responsibilities in a complex and integrated environment which normally is multi-functional, multi-national, and multi-site. We seek a strong consulting resource with deep understanding, relationships and experience of Mid-Stream Energy Industry issues, developments, requirements and needs, who has the experience and presence to be a trusted advisor to our priority clients.

    We are looking for a Director, to be based in Calgary, who is ready for a challenge and wants to collaborate with diverse teams, inspire others, and ensure our firm operates with quality and integrity.

    Requirements:

  • Proven success in building trusted executive relationships with key Mid-Stream Energy Industry stakeholders, secondary Mining.
  • Experience in account planning and management including engaging multidisciplinary teams around sales pursuits
  • 8-12 years' experience in a leading management consulting firm, demonstrating knowledge of strategy, operations and technology used by Mid-Stream Energy(Oil and Gas)Industry and asset-intensive (Mining/Energy/Utility) clients to serve their customers and stakeholders. It is important to be able to have credibility with clients by demonstrating subject matter expertise and knowledge in one or more of the EUMI industry and operational functions.
  • Experience working in or managing projects in one or more of the following areas would be an asset: Asset Lifecycle Management, Mobility, Analytics, Capital Projects, Cyber Security, IoT.
  • Proven track record of managing and delivering significant business results that reflects strategic and creative thinking, individual initiative and motivating teams.
  • Ability to develop and manage strategic client relationships while providing the highest quality client work across multiple client projects.
  • Demonstrated capability in thought leadership, new business development and securing project extensions, including client lead maturation, proposal development, and closing new business opportunities.
  • Proven leader with extensive abilities to build solid and collaborative relationships with team members, foster a productive teamwork environment, lead teams to generate a vision, leverage diverse views, and help develop and grow team members throughout the course of every engagement.
  • Completed Master's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Business is preferred.
  • Candidates should be prepared to travel (10% to 50%).


  • Business Development and Client Relationship Management

  • Build trusted executive relationships and nurture business opportunities from these relationships
  • Stay abreast of key industry developments both within Canada and globally;
  • Lead pursuit teams and proposal development including innovative approaches and methodologies tailored to address specific client requirements.
  • A track record of managing the sales cycle and leading a team through business development activities.


  • Engagement Delivery and Management

  • Manage the end to end delivery (including project economics) of multiple front office consulting projects comprising of multiple resources and teams. Ensure the quality of deliverables and that clients are satisfied with the work.
  • Critique client's strategies with a focus on revenue growth and operational execution;
  • Understand the operational implications of client's strategies;
  • Assess operational readiness for the rollout of new products and services;
  • Document, re-design and implement operational processes - for example ordering, billing, network and field operations, and finance business unit reporting;
  • Develop costing frameworks / costing and forecasting models / business case;
  • Communicate complex material effectively in written and oral formats to various audiences;
  • Manage an engagement team to the production of quality deliverables on time and on budget and in line with client expectations and internal standards;

  • Support team activities to foster an environment of collaboration and success;
  • Connect across the PwC global network to share experiences and apply global ideas to our Canadian client base;
