Position Summary:

We are currently seeking an experienced NOC Team Lead to serve as the lead for all Network Operations, day-to-day activities, and ongoing projects. They will manage and develop policy and process to support a NOC, with a team of skilled individuals across Canada, and will leverage their experience in developing, initiating, and maintaining processes for high availability (24x7) coverage of production systems. This is a new role, and requires a strong vision of what and how a NOC should operate, and ability to bring that to reality.

Primary Functions:
  • Provide team leadership and mentorship for the NOC / Helpdesk Team
  • Create, evaluate, and improve upon current NOC processes and policies
  • Ensure monitoring, alerting, and reporting for production environments
  • Develop and report on key metrics for executive review and oversight
  • Troubleshooting network, server, application, and other types of issues
  • Achieve measured success rate at resolving alerted issues without escalation to engineering
  • Maintain and adhere to a Change Management Policy in the Data Center for all customer impacting changes
  • Proactively raise risks and implement fixes and changes
  • Assist in supporting overall datacenter operations, including, but not limited to: Networking, Linux/UNIX/Windows Servers, Citrix, VMWare, SAN Storage, and hardware
  • Work with senior staff members on a variety of tasks and projects as required

  • Relevant IT/Computer Engineering degree or diploma, or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years of experience leadership in Network Operations Center activities, or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of leading a team of IT professionals
  • Experience working in multi-tens to hundred thousand user environments
  • Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service
  • Development and support of Process, Documentation, Business Metrics, Change Management Processes, Service Level Agreements
  • Support operations including IT best practices, industry trends, and customer service
  • Knowledge of Windows, Mac, and Linux/UNIX operating systems administration

Bonus points if you have experience with:
  • Opsview or Nagios
  • Networking concepts including network switching, firewalls, routing, bridging, WANs, and VPN, concepts & technologies.
  • Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft environment knowledge
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux
  • VMWare vSphere
  • Citrix XenApp
  • Database administration and management
  • Server and SAN hardware
  • Data Center operations
