This role requires a seasoned Tier 3 operations engineer to ensure the platforms in the Messaging & VAS portfolio meet the Reliability & Performance goals aligned with Telus's L2R mandate. The role involves working with Technology Strategy counterparts to deployment new features & functionality, and proactive planning, tuning and troubleshooting to meet our ever increasing operational standards. This role serves as the key interface for server Software maintenance with vendors, Technology Strategy team and Product Development team.Responsibilities:
•Provide technical guidance to network teams for highly complex and critical service troubles (e.g. wireline LAN/WAN, TCP/IP and wireless HSPA and LTE) to manage restoration of network and services on 7x24 availability
•Lead the team in developing proactive measures, processes and practices to support the network and the services delivered on the network; guide and mentor other team members
•Provide technical analysis and recommendations to engineering, enterprise network and/or vendors to ensure smooth delivery & implementation of enhancements and/or fixes to our platform applications and associated services
•Lead TELUS in resolution of MPLS network, IP Backbone network and Multicast network problems
•May manage the Vendor trouble cases on behalf of TELUS and hold regular Operational meetings with Vendors
•Develop Business Cases for capital or OPEX budgets
•Adherence to change management processes
•Develop and maintain documentation and information (e.g. network diagrams, typologies, contact information, etc.)
•Provide technical training to support teams to enable individuals to support new product & service introductions
•Support the First Office Application (FOA) of new services and technologies
•Conduct operational design and readiness of new technologies
•Systematic troubleshooting methodology, written and verbal communications, time management, prioritization Qualifications:Required Knowledge:
•Advanced/excellent knowledge and understanding of: Required Professional Designation/Certification:
•Scripting knowledge (Bash, KSH, Pearl, Python)
•Database (e.g. Oracle, MS Access, SQL, Visio, MapInfo, etc.)
•Inter-networking and voice/data
•Advanced Excel skills
•Advanced/superior technical and analytical skills
•Requires judgement in making and owning technical decisions
•Ability to apply financial, economic and network concepts for the development of various cost analysis and network forecasts: Advanced
•Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills and effective presentation skills: Advanced
•Ability to lead and collaborate with a variety of diverse groups and teams (internal and/or external) to effectively introduce and implement change in the work place; strong leadership, team and project management skills and experience with a variety of technical projects and programs: Advanced
•Knowledge and experience dealing with site acquisition policies and procedures of various government levels, specifically as it relates to tower, environmental, health and safety issues: Advanced
•Support specific customer issues through assessment, interpretation, resolution or recommendations; expert level knowledge of all TELUS service design and routing configurations: Advanced
•Knowledge and Experience on Openstack with in an NFV environment an asset
•Degree in Computer Science or Engineering
•3-5 years of equivalent experience
•Bachelor in Computer Science or Engineering required
•Graduate degree in Computer Science/Engineering or MBA is an asset
•CCNA Certification Required Experience:
•5+ years of network related experience
•5+ years of VAS (Value Added Service) experience
•5+ years voice networking experience
•5+ year's collab experience (or a combination of education and experience)
•Development in Java, HTML/CSS, Perl, and Python scripting is an asset Who is TELUS?
