The Occupational Health Nurse will be supporting our lodges in the Ft. McMurray area remotely, and working based out of our Edmonton Head Office. The role will be responsible for proactively assessing, treating, and facilitating the safe and early return to work of ill and/or injured employees. The position will report to the Sr. Disability Management Coordinator.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and monitor injuries and illness, identify acceptability of work-related injuries.
  • Administrative management of occupational injury and illness claims.
  • Serve as the central contact and liaison when a worker is ill or injured and implement the appropriate documentation claims.
  • Identify and develop modified/return to work plans for the ill or injured employee.
  • Assess, monitor and adjust return to work plans based on medically supported documentation in a timely manner; identify and address barriers to return to work; negotiate modified and return to work abilities.
  • Work with safety advisors, Human Resources Business Partners, supervisors and employees to ensure safe return to work plans are in place.
  • Identify when additional assessments and supports are required.
  • Develop and deliver training as required with respect to health, wellness and disability management.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of and adherence to all applicable legislation, standards and guidelines.

  • Currently hold RN registration with CARNA and in good standing.
  • Minimum of 5 years related occupational health nursing experience.
  • OHN certificate or willingness to acquire certification.
  • Ability to travel to site as required
  • Class 5 Operator's License, with a 5 - year driving record satisfactory to Civeo's driving criteria.
  • Core medical knowledge as outlined in Registered Nurse CARNA Competency Profile or other recognized nursing regulatory agency.
  • Active CARNA license with no restrictions or the willingness to apply for CARNA license if currently registered in another jurisdiction.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good judgment, the ability to make decisions quickly and calmly in stressful situations
  • Ability to deal with employees and members of the public in a professional, tactful manner.
  • Ability to understand, follow and enforce specific instructions, procedures, and Company protocols (including safety codes and regulations).
  • Experience in unionized environments would be an asset.
