Calgary - On-Air Talent/Producer/News Writer - Breakfast Television

Breakfast Television, Canada's longest-running morning show on Citytv, is looking for a smart, hard-working and self-motivated on-air personality capable of writing and producing a balanced morning newscast. The successful candidate will be capable of using traditional and non-traditional media to provide industry-leading coverage. Reporting to the Supervising Producer, he or she will demonstrate exceptional editorial skills while producing compelling news content to inform and engage our morning audience.

What you'll be doing:

  • Daily on-air presentation of news stories
  • Compiling of local and other news stories into brief, comprehensive newscasts
  • Providing clear instruction to edit to put together news packs
  • Working closely with the night side CityNews team to establish the news of the day
  • Writing scripts daily
  • Working closely with the Supervising Producer to establish tone and direction
  • Chasing, booking and interviewing news guests for broadcast
  • Hours are 3am-11am.
Experience Required:

  • Minimum 3 years on-air broadcast news experience
  • Ability to work (with) autonomously
  • Creative vision and keen editorial judgment
  • Superior writing, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • A willingness to embrace, adopt and adapt to new technology
  • Social media and web skillset an asset
  • Control and field production experience an asset
  • A broadcast journalism diploma or equivalent experience
  • Shift work required
  • Sound communication skills
