Position Overview: Reporting to the Fleet Performance Director, you will play a key role in assisting Finning Canada execute on its strategic priority to drive customer success by improving the performance of their Caterpillar fleets. This includes trucks, shovels, draglines, drills and support equipment by leveraging data and information, technology, Cat expertise and Finning expertise. You will be working with customers to reduce their cost per ton and by helping execute operational projects identified during OEE reviews. This is a great opportunity to travel the various mine sites in Western Canada.

Job Description:
Major Job Function:
  • Develop, implement and manage customer specific operations and/or maintenance initiatives
  • Execute OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) reviews with Finning's mining customers
  • Provide guidance to Finning's Site Performance Managers in executing customer specific initiatives
  • Monitor Finning and customer KPI's through insights coming from Finning's Fleet Performance Centre , and use it to make recommendations to improve their fleets performance
  • Develop, mentor and coach Site Performance Managers
  • Identify innovation opportunities to achieve the objectives above
  • Develop and implement operations or maintenance projects through the OEE process to improve the customer's fleet performance
  • Engage with the customer to ensure successful implementation of the operations projects
  • Represent the company in a professional and ethical manner
  • Work in a safe manner, as per Finning's standards


Specific Skills & Knowledge:
  • Ability to thoroughly analyze mine operations and/or maintenance data that will improve fleet performance and identify specific initiatives that will have a material impact on the customers success
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision making skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Proven relationship management skills with a strong customer focus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Effective leadership, strong safety and technical background
  • Knowledge and experience in mine operations and maintenance specifically on truck and shovel operational and maintenance best practices and world class mining methods
  • Knowledge and experience in implementing continuous improvement projects through Six Sigma, Lean or other processes
  • Knowledge and experience with operating Caterpillar mining equipment and other competitive equipment


Education and Experience:
  • Mining Engineer, Mechanical Engineer (or similar technical background) with 3 or more years in leadership or supervisory roles in the mining industry
  • 10 plus years of mining experience
  • Experience in continuous improvement, process management and change management is preferred
  • 5+ years' experience in Project Management with a focus on business improvement and change management.
  • Travel required 25-40% to Western Canadian mines
  • This role can be based in Fort McMurray, Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver or Kamloops
