Parking Enforcement Officers are contracted to the City of Edmonton and are responsible for enforcing parking regulations on city streets.
Essential Job Functions: Beat Patrol Officers walk an assigned route enforcing parking regulations in high traffic areas such as downtown and Whyte Ave. Violations include, but are not limited to expired meters, no parking zones, tow away zones, etc. City Patrol Officers drive a patrol car, carry an EPS radio and respond to all dispatched complaints for non-moving vehicle violations. In addition, they conduct follow-ups and patrols of high traffic areas. After a minimum of six (6) months on City Patrol, Community Peace Officer status can be obtained to enable officers to tow vehicles when required. Utilize customer service skills when interacting with citizens at all times. Making accurate, detailed, neat and clearly legible tickets, warnings, notices and reports when required.
Related Work Experience: Must possess a valid Class 5 drivers license and clean drivers abstract Demonstrate competency in English to the extent of reading and understanding written regulations, orders and instructions, and be able to compose legible reports Ability to make quick decisions in emergency response situations with minimal supervision Physically able to walk up to 30+ kilometers per day or drive for up to 10hrs per day Ability to write comprehensive reports and maintain proper records Ability to handle private information with a high amount of discretion Must be able to obtain a clean security clearance Take pride in delivering exceptional customer service Flexibility to work a variety of shifts (evenings/weekends/days) Must have obtained your High School Diploma Must be 18 years of age Beneficial to have a minimum of one year previous security experience, or have successfully completed a two year diploma in a policing or security program or have a minimum of 3 years management or supervisory experience where public contact and conflict resolution were key functions
