Job Skills / Requirements

Parking Enforcement Officers are contracted to the City of Edmonton and are responsible for enforcing parking regulations on city streets.

Essential Job Functions:
Beat Patrol Officers walk an assigned route enforcing parking regulations in high traffic areas such as downtown and Whyte Ave. Violations include, but are not limited to expired meters, no parking zones, tow away zones, etc.

City Patrol Officers drive a patrol car and respond to all dispatched complaints for non-moving vehicle violations.
Officers on City Patrol obtain Community Peace Officer status to enable towing of vehicles when required.
In addition, they conduct follow-ups and patrols of high traffic areas.

Utilize customer service skills when interacting with citizens at all times.
Making accurate, detailed, neat and clearly legible tickets, warnings, notices and reports when required.

Related Work Experience:
Must possess a valid Class 5 drivers license and clean drivers abstract
Demonstrate competency in English to the extent of reading and understanding written regulations, orders and instructions, and be able to compose legible reports
Ability to make quick decisions in emergency response situations with minimal supervision
Physically able to walk up to 30+ kilometers per day or drive for up to 10hrs per day
Ability to write comprehensive reports and maintain proper records
Ability to handle private information with a high amount of discretion
Must be able to obtain a clean security clearance
Take pride in delivering exceptional customer service
Flexibility to work a variety of shifts (evenings/weekends/days)
Must have obtained your High School Diploma
Must be 18 years of age

Requirements (at least one of the following):
2 years post-secondary, preferably in a related field
1 year previous enforcement experience (including security experience)
3 years supervisory/management experience where customer service and conflict resolution were key functions
5 years customer service experience where conflict resolution was a key function

High School Diploma / GED

Certification Requirements (Any)

Valid Class 5 Drivers License
