Reporting to the Director of Remanufacturing, the Planning Manager is responsible for the direct supervision of Production Planning team(s) in close coordination with Value Stream Senior Managers, the Master Scheduler, and their respective Exchange Buyers and Exchange Supply Planners. The role serves to facilitate oversight of production planning activities and creation/coordination of long-term strategic planning and analysis focused around continuous improvement and expansion of the production areas (Value Streams).

Job Description:

Major Job Functions:
  • Provide strategic decision making and leadership on production planning initiatives aimed at improving plan development, schedule attainment, profitability, WIP turns, and Exchange Return on Invested Capital (ROIC).
  • Lead the planning team on a day-to-day basis to deliver on goals, while developing a positive/engaging work culture that is performance driven, customer focused, creative and highly collaborative.
  • Provide timely and proactive updates to Senior Managers on items impacting velocity and cost.
  • Understand OEM's business planning and AOP requirements and align monthly and weekly planning strategy to meet the goals.
  • Analyze capacity constraints and make recommendations for improvements to maximize outputs, meet availability needs and throughput times.
  • Understand OEM's workforce model and make ongoing recommendations regarding required labour and capacity.
  • Assess and develop business case for required tools or technologies that may help improve the performance of production planning.
  • Tactical Intervention as required to ensure Operational Execution, Component Availability and Customer Service.
  • Identify and resolve gaps relating to team structure, skills and working style by assessing existing resources and future requirements
  • Establish regular update meetings with direct reports to monitor performance, results and provide timely feedback.
  • Conduct performance management of direct reports as per company policies and requirements.
  • Implement Finning's required policies and procedures, including engaging and empowering your team to be champions of safety.
  • Celebrate the team's success, reward and recognize top performers on your team and within affiliated production departments and build momentum while strengthening relationships and confidence within the larger team.
  • Develop and manage strong relationships with key stakeholders including OEM Customer Service, Finning Exchange Supply Chain and OEM Material Supply teams.
  • Develop and enhance Operations Playbook in coordination with above stakeholders and Production management to ensure guidelines, roles and decision making expectations are clear to all.
  • Develop metric reporting (dashboards) that accurately captures overall performance and trends in key areas.
  • Implement and document effective, standardized, Exchange and Planning processes to assist with training, conformance, and alignment inside Value Streams and the Exchange Program.

Education & Experience:
  • Minimum five (5) years related work experience in an analytical and/or planning capacity, preferably in a mining or manufacturing environment
  • Minimum three (3) years of related experience managing/supervising direct reports
  • Bachelor of Commerce Degree with a focus on Operations Management or equivalent experience in a related field. (Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Mining or Construction)
  • Experience in building highly motivated teams of diverse backgrounds.
