Job Description & Summary
A career in our Tax Compliance Services practice, within Tax services, will provide you with the opportunity to help our clients meet and manage their tax obligations across unique but ever changing tax specialties. You'll advise clients on their local and overseas tax affairs, while acting as a strategic consultant related to business analysis, managing indirect taxes, dispute resolution, and global enterprise tax solutions.
Our team helps our clients with compliance across all taxes, statutory accounting and complex tax reporting. You'll focus on bookkeeping and monthly reporting, drafting, auditing and filing of local statutory financial statements, and transaction processing.
As a Senior Associate, you'll work as part of a team of problem solvers with extensive consulting and industry experience, helping our clients solve their complex business issues from strategy to execution. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Your work will be primarily
Preparing financial statements from source documentation for operating companies and investment holding companies;Preparing various tax election forms;Year-end planning for various companies;Compilation of client information and working paper file preparation;Planning and executing review engagements in accordance with Generally Accepted Auditing Standards in addition to preparation of financial statement in accordance with Accounting Standards for Private EnterprisesDrafting complete financial statements and related notes and preparing personal and corporate tax returns and other information.Supervising and coaching junior staff and reviewing their work where applicable.Following-up on Notices of (Re) Assessments;Preparing memos to file and other correspondence, as required;Researching, as required.
Accounting diploma or degree from a College or University3-5 years' accounting experienceCA, CGA, CMA designation or successfully passed the CFE and has completed all practical experience requirementsGood interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise with clients at a professional level;Good report writing skills;Fundamental Financial Accounting and Tax knowledge;Sound knowledge of preparing Canadian personal and corporate income tax returns;Good organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and multitaskAbility to work in a consistently fast-paced environment and to meet tight deadlinesAccuracy and attention to detailComputer software knowledge (Excel, Caseware, Tax Prep, QuickBooks, Sage, Simply Accounting)Proactive and takes ownership for developmentTeam Player
This role does not support completion of the Canadian CPA designation.
