Position Overview: The production planner will be responsible for the day to day tactical planning of their specific area.

Job Description:

Major Job Functions:
  • Co-ordinate daily production activities between Production Managers, Customer Service Reps and Technical Services, includes scheduling work orders, communicating work order delays, generation of production reports and coordinating pre-job meetings when required
  • Provide promise dates and changes to the said dates
  • Monitor progress of work orders & communicate issues in order to ensure that promise dates are met
  • Create the production schedule ensuring the plans reflect priority work
  • Reconcile schedule attainment for daily, weekly, and monthly plans
  • Work with Master Planner to create monthly revenue plans
  • Coordinate shadowing of jobs with the SOP Team as required
  • Coordinate material availability with the purchasing department and schedule jobs accordingly
  • Coordinate with Planners, Team Leaders, Area Manager, Production Managers, Material Handling & Purchasing staff for the assigned shop area so that production activities occur in an efficient manner
  • Communicate customer requirements to the shop floor and accommodate said requirements in a production plan that also meets corporate objectives
  • Evaluate capacity and ensure it is aligned with the forecast. Identify constraints and make recommendations for improvement
  • Identify overtime requirements and coordinate with the Production Manager
  • Ensure all work order information is prepared, maintained, organized and available to the shop floor in a timely manner
  • Update operating system to maintain up-to-date status information


Specific Skills & Knowledge:
  • Strong analytical background and organization skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to utilize a variety of software tools (databases, spreadsheets, flowcharts etc.) to perform forecasting, modeling, analysis, simulations & flow chart functions would be an asset
  • Demonstrated, written and oral communications skills


Education:
  • Post-secondary education in Management or Business
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years' scheduling or supply chain experience
