Position Overview: This position will provide production and safety support to on-shift front line employees during the night and weekend shifts and will be primarily responsible for safety, people, production, cost and velocity as it relates to the Organizations Values and customer commitments. Working closely with the Production Management teams, Planning teams and the Safety Shift Supervisor; the Production Supervisor will also have responsibility for ensuring proper communication across multiple shifts.

Job Description:

Major Job Functions:
  • Responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of production operations
  • Provide insight and guidance by assigning work priorities to technicians where applicable by overseeing jobs for work quality and productivity
  • Interacts and coaches employees daily on safe work practices, risk awareness and tolerance and hazard identification
  • Positively reinforces OEM's safety culture through significant on-floor interaction and coaching
  • Responsible for the day-to-day leadership of front line employees
  • Lead and motivate individuals in achieving operating targets and maximize employee work performance and productivity through coaching and feedback
  • Monitors production schedule and takes action to meet schedule deadlines
  • Responsible for timely and effective communication between shifts, including the completion of proper documentation and accurate briefing on progress/issues
  • Confer with management to resolve worker problems, complaints and production issues
  • Responsible to become familiar with the Collective Agreement
  • Monitor and assess employee's performance, attendance, scheduling etc.
  • Provide advice, coaching, guidance, and mentoring to front line employees
  • Ensure that all documented standard operating procedures are being adhered to and followed consistently on the floor and with each job
  • Take a leading role in Contamination Control in accordance with the Organizations targets
  • Ensuring that tooling, parts and technical issues are dealt with promptly so it does not impact production
  • Responds to emergency situations as necessary
  • Monitor and Understand attendance for purposes of evacuation
  • Responsible for the daily communication across multiple shifts in regards to Safety, People, Production and Quality
  • Other related duties and projects as assigned


Specific Skills & Knowledge:
  • Effective leadership/supervisory skills
  • The desire to lead and manage people
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Possesses continuous improvement approach
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal skills to communicate with all levels of the organization and its executive team
  • Can comfortably handle risk/uncertainty and able to make timely self-directed decisions under tight timelines and pressure
  • Always searches for understanding and tries to find new solutions; learns from both successes and failures
  • Knows when and how to compromise, finds solutions to resistance/setbacks and possesses drive to finish


Education & Experience:
  • 3 years with supervisor experience working in construction, manufacturing, or other related industries
  • University degree or diploma in a related field is an asset


Note:
  • This position is for night shift (Monday- Thursday, 4:00PM-2:30AM) and or Weekend Shift (Friday- Sunday, 6:00AM-630PM)
