Reporting to the Project Lead, the Project Controls Analyst is responsible for supporting the project performance through cost control, budget analysis and reporting. The role involves working with the Lead and key team members to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and especially within budget. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management principles, data analysis, and financial oversight. Working as part of a project team this role will help Teck deliver on a strategy of efficient, balanced and sustainable mining equipment rebuilds.

The successful candidate will be a flexible and diligent teammate with outstanding communication and analytical skills. They must have proven expertise with project progress and cost tracking as well as reporting. Most importantly, they will be team focused and recognize the need to engage project partners in relevant project decisions.

Location And Schedule:
  • Compressed work week with alternating Fridays off.
  • Hybrid work schedule with dedicated in-office days.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • 12 months contract

Responsibilities
  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures.
  • Work closely with the Project Lead and Project Engineer to develop detailed project cost estimates in alignment with the project execution plan and schedule.
  • Collaborate with the technical team to develop project budgets and financial plans, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and project timelines.
  • Monitor project performance, identify variances, and provide proactive recommendations for cost control and optimization.
  • Lead all aspects of expenditures and track cost performance.
  • Support asset management department budgeting and forecasting on a monthly basis.
  • Prepare progress reports, financial reports, cost analyses, and profitability assessments for project partners and management.
  • Analyze project expenditures, track capital expenditures (CAPEX), relevant operational expenditures (OPEX), and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Coordinate with procurement and supply chain teams to analyze vendor proposals, and ensure cost-effective purchasing decisions.
  • Assist in financial risk assessment and mitigation strategies related to haul truck rebuild projects.
  • Support project teams in financial decision-making processes, providing insights and data-driven recommendations.
  • Analyze project data to provide insights and support decision-making.
  • Collaborate with accounting and finance departments to ensure accurate project accounting and financial reporting (accruals, forecasting, etc.).

Qualifications
  • Degree or Diploma in Project Management, Business Administration, Engineering, etc.
  • Minimum four years of experience in cost/budget administration, project controls, project management, or a related field.
  • Experience working in a large industrial environment - mining, oil and gas, or manufacturing is an asset.
  • Experience with mobile mining equipment would be great to have.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excel in fast paced environment and work with multiple priorities.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies and standard processes.
  • Meticulous with a high level of accuracy.
  • Proactive and self-motivated with a strong sense of accountability.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
