Job Description
We are seeking a Project Torcher to join our LOCAL Team. The ideal candidate will have experience working on demolition projects, but could also have relevant experienced in construction, agriculture, mechanical and/or industrial settings. This individual will ideally have experience in demolition, construction, metals recycling, and working alongside heavy equipment. Our Project Torcher will be responsible for safe and effective demolition/dismantlement of structures and equipment; loading and offloading materials; managing paperwork such as BOLs and Safety related documents; and general labour duties at LOCAL’s projects throughout Western Canada. Responsibilities
- Adherence to all LOCAL safety policies and procedures
- Attend and contribute to all safety-related meetings
- Scaling trucks and vehicles in and out of projects
- Loading and offloading shipments and completing associated paperwork
- Torch cutting and processing structures and equipment
- Familiar with operating and servicing small equipment such as forklifts, skid steer and tools such as cut-off saws, grinders, torching and welding equipment
- Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment
- Clean, lubricate and fuel equipment and general site housekeeping
- General labour as required
Qualifications
- Product knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous material is an asset
- General labouring experience in a mechanical, industrial, commercial, warehouse or farm setting is preferential
- Class 5 drivers license
- Previous demolition and or metal recycling industry experience is an asset
- Ability to adhere to all of LOCAL’s Workplace Health and Safety requirements
- Ability to follow, contribute to, and complete any required safety documentation
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, shoveling, moving containers and other heavy objects in a safe and efficient manner
- Strong work ethic, positive attitude, punctual, and arrives fit for duty everyday
- Willingness to work away from home as part of a projects
- Certification in WHIMS, H2S, CSTS, First Aid would be considered an asset
- This is a safety sensitive position and with that the candidate would be required to complete pre-access A&D testing
- Basic computer skills
