ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY 

Methanex currently has an exciting career opportunity for a Quality Assurance/Quality Control Inspector to join our team in Medicine Hat on a full-time basis. 

Under the direction of the Chief Inspector, the primary responsibility of the QA/QC Inspector is determining and coordinating non-destructive testing activities and performing the inspection of piping, pressure equipment and fabrication processes to achieve the desired result of a safe and reliable petrochemical operation in full compliance with construction codes, provincial statutory regulations, Methanex project standards and corporate best practices. 

More specifically your responsibilities will include:

• Assisting in developing and scheduling pressure equipment inspection intervals and ensuring inspections are performed in a timely fashion in accordance with Methanex Inspection and Test Plans.
• Identifying, Mitigating and dispositioning non-conformances under the mentorship of the Chief Inspector. 
• Assisting in inspections for all maintenance and capital projects to ensure they are fabricated, installed and tested in accordance with the requirements outlined in the Pressure Equipment Integrity Manual.
• Developing detailed inspection and test plans for fabricated equipment and piping fabrication.
• Assisting in ensuring welders are qualified in all aspects of QA/QC for maintenance work and capital projects.
• Gathering field data for equipment condition monitoring.
• Controlling inspection, measuring and test equipment.
• Assisting with continuous improvement activities in quality control. 
• Supporting site management, maintenance, technical and operations departments in continual compliance with provincial legislation.
• Verifying inspection qualification records for quality control inspectors, equipment integrity inspectors and non-destructive testing examiners.
• Proactively monitoring and mitigating conditions which could affect containment integrity of process equipment and jeopardize the safety of our stakeholders.
• Participating in housekeeping, WSCS safety, and behavioural safety audits.
• Supporting QA/QC Inspectors in generating integrity reports and documents as required to the Provincial Jurisdictional Regulators.
• Ensuring contractors performing repairs or alterations to pressure equipment hold the appropriate Certificate of Authorization Permit (CAP) as issued by provincial legislation.
• Contributing to the organizational vision of Global Methanol Leadership and as a team member demonstrating the core values of integrity, trust, respect, and professionalism.

To qualify for this role you will need either a relevant trade certificate or a post-secondary diploma in Materials Engineering Technology, Welding Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related discipline. Candidates with equivalent previous inspection experience will also be considered. A valid drivers license is also required.
