The Municipality of Pangnirtung

About the Opportunity  

The Municipality of Pangnirtung has an opportunity for a Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic to join their team in Pangnirtung, Nunavut.

Responsibilities include: 

  • Carrying out direct maintenance and repairs on all municipal controlled vehicles and equipment
  • Instructing staff and apprentices
  • Carrying out scheduled preventative maintenance and repairs
  • Conducting regular inspections of vehicles/equipment to identify any repairs required
  • Completing work in accordance with works orders, plans, and standards
  • Assisting in preparation and overseeing of repair projects, tenders, and annual sealift orders
  • Ensuring request for shipments of materials and supplies are processed properly
  • Ensuring material and supplies received are in accordance with what the purchase order states
  • Maintaining accurate records are kept in relation to maintenance, repairs, and inventory

In order to qualify for this role, you must have a valid Red Seal Certificate in Heavy Equipment. A Certificate in Automotive Mechanics is an asset but is not required.

You must also have a valid Class 5 driver’s license. A Class 3 with airbrakes endorsement is also an asset. Please note you must be able to work overtime when required.
