What's the job? As a member of the Regulatory Compliance Management (RCM) Team and the Regulatory Compliance Manager, Business and Market Conduct, you will contribute to the execution of Coast Capital's RCM Program and provide Second Line of Defence (2LOD) oversight, including the advisory and effective challenge to the activities of the business lines. Your primary focus is to identify and assess regulatory risks, evaluate the effectiveness of controls implemented by business units and review enterprise projects to ensure compliance with applicable legislation.
What else will you get to do? Monitors Business Unit business processes to ensure these appropriately reflect regulatory requirements. Supports the business lines in complying with securities legislation and other regulatory requirements such as the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO) (formerly IIROC and MFDA) rules, provincial securities laws, policies and procedures that align with these requirements. Acts as the independent and objective second line of defence gives accurate and independent advice to the business and functions stakeholders, and provides observations and recommendations on specific operations, new products, etc., based on understanding the business needs, issues and priorities until final implementation. Determines whether regulatory risks have been adequately identified and addressed. Identifies compliance gaps and works closely with the business to address those gaps promptly Maintains awareness of significant regulatory changes and assists with action plans to address new or amended regulatory requirements and to develop appropriate responses to remain compliant. Provides subject matter expertise, guidance, support and challenge to the Business Units during the development and implementation of products, processes or systems, including new initiatives and marketing communications to ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements. Works with Business Units to revise/enhance business processes to appropriately reflect new or changing regulatory requirements. Provides independent reviews, investigations and evaluations to ensure compliance issues/concerns are being appropriately addressed Advises and manages the adherence to, adequacy and effectiveness of regulatory compliance controls (including inherent and residual risk ratings) and advises the Business Units in developing additional controls on an as-needed basis. Acts as the go-to person for the business to ensure processes are coordinated, and implementation risks and issues related to compliance are considered and addressed. Uses data and performance indicators to establish and develop metrics and key risk indicators to identify trends in business activities and evaluate the effectiveness of established policies, procedures and controls Facilitating remediation/tracking of findings by Audit, Regulators and other oversight groups Support business lines to increase the level of employee knowledge and the application of best practices. Who are we looking for? Bachelor's degree in business or similar areas. 4-6 years of experience interpreting regulations within a Bank or Federally Regulated Credit Union and regulated securities Dealer/and or securities regulatory Body is preferred Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements. (Eg. CIRO, OSC requirements, Exchanges requirements) Understanding of Fixed Income/OTC trading products Ability to translate regulatory requirements into project requirements and to communicate legislation and guidelines to various stakeholders. An excellent understanding of risk assessment methodology and the ability to effectively understand and translate legislation and regulations into business impacts, compliance elements and regulatory risks. Excellent knowledge of legislation and regulations impacting Federal Credit Unions and Banks Strong knowledge of financial products and services Excellent ability to analyze, interpret, synthesize, simplify and communicate complex legislative and regulatory requirements Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written Ability to work effectively both independently and as a team member Equity, Diversity & Inclusion at Coast Capital Don't meet every single requirement?
