ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Methanex is currently seeking a Safety Advisor to join the team in Medicine Hat on a full-time basis.
The Safety Advisor provides specialist technical and practical advice and solutions regarding all aspects of the safety and health program at Methanex Medicine Hat.
This position is responsible for assessing Methanex, Medicine Hat division’s compliance with federal, provincial, and municipal Occupational Health and Safety legislation and Methanex Corporation standards. A main focus of the role is to promote the well-being of employees in the workplace, avoid exposure to risk and to reduce costs related to workplace injuries and/or non-compliance fines and penalties.
In order to qualify for this role, you will have a diploma or certificate from an accredited health and safety program combined with safety professional certification such as NCSO, CRSP, or an equivalent. The successful candidate must also have at least 5 years of health and safety experience, preferably in the oil and gas and/or petrochemical industry.
Candidates with experience conducting workplace program audits to minimize or alleviate unsafe work conditions and prevent workplace accidents, along with experience providing guidance to managers and supervisors to ensure legislative compliance will have an advantage. Equally, individuals with demonstrated awareness of current and emerging occupation health issues will excel in this role.
